Hi all - I have a S&W revolver that has been cerakoted and has vaporized lead along the front edges of the cylinder. Can anyone recommend a way to remove the lead without taking off the finish? Otherwise, I'll likely just leave it. Thank you in advance for the advice! "Brevity is the sole of wit." - Rudyard Kipling.

I'd just leave it. Not worth the hassle of mercury.

Lysol toilet bowl cleaner. I used it on a suppressor. exterior coating which looked like a PVD finish was unaffected. strips carbon easily and quickly. As far as stripping Cera-Kote? I kind of doubt it will affect Cera-Kote as I've found Cera-Kote to be durable enough to require Aluminum oxide blast or 180gt emery cloth for removal of Cera-Kote or Black-T. Other uses, stripping bluing, stripping heat treat scale on parts post heat treat. It will create a Matte finish on polished steel. Other similar products that are mildly caustic, CLR, Tarnex.
