So you were able to kill African animals with a 210 grain bullet out of your .338? How is that possible? Everything I have read says you must use heavy for caliber bullets (250 grains in a .338) and preferably Swift A-Frames, Barnes X or North Forks. Next thing you know someone will admit to using Remington Core-Lokts. Smiler

Have been waiting for your report and certianly was not disappointed. Congratulations.

Wow Will... great report, superb trophies and those accomodations are second to none! I bet the Missus won't let you hunt anywhere else now!

Seriously, damn fine elephant for Zim and that leopard is an absolute toad. Good show!

Will,

I would usually say how lucky you are, but it is not luck. Your hunt is what happens when preparation meets opportunity, coupled with a good plan. And just look what happened. Every one on your trophies are better than the last. And that leopard is a pig.

Just curious, how big was that ivory? I guessed him at 70+ from the field shot, but now I would like to revise to 61. Am I close?

Strangely, I am not envious of your hunt, but genuinely happy for you and your success.

Congrats again to you and Betsy.

Will,

Man, that sounds like the perfect safari, and you posted as perfect a hunt report as I will likely ever read. Outstanding! I like your wishes for how you wanted your ideal elephant hunt to go. I also like your attitude toward your hippo and croc hunts. Every animal you shoot doesn't have to make the record book - what matters is that you enjoyed the hunt. You did it exactly the way I would have done it, and I only hope I can do a safari like that some day. You took truly magnificent animals. Thanks for the fantastic report and beautiful photos!

I saw about the same amount at both places. I've basically abandoned the plan to shoot a sable in the Save. I'd like to shoot one and just one, so I am holding out for that 42 to 44 inch bull that is very hard to find. A buff-sable hunt in one of the Matetsi units may be in my future.
