Area: SVC Zimbabwe
Outfitter: Mokore Safaris
Dates: 2-16 May 2016
PH : Neil Duckworth
Clients: Brandon, Gunner, Bowdy and Jake
Type of hunt: Leopard, Tuskless and plainsgame

This hunt had been booked several years in advance to secure a leopard with the best dates. Brandon's main goal was a big leopard with hounds and then a tuskless and a selection on plainsgame for his friends. To start off we obviously shot Zebra and impala and got the baits running . There was one cat that I labelled " the king" who I really wanted to get as he had an enormous track. After a week went by and the king walked past several of our baits we decided to shift our interest onto a couple of other big cats we had feeding. We had 7 males on bait and a bunch of females with cubs totalling over 15 cats.

On day 9 we had a cat we called Dick and balls feed so first thing on morning of day ten we were at the bait site and he had fed again but with a female also present. It did not take the trackers and dogs to separate the tracks and we were off at a fast pace after the male. After a couple miles we were gradually climbing higher and higher until the dogs flushed the cat. It was not long until he climbed a tall Syringa tree and Brandon put in the killing shot. A very nice ,shortish but thick set cat.

As luck has it the King fed that same night and the night after ,wasn't meant to be so hopefully he has some other hunter's name on him. Photos of the king.

From here we concentrated on the tuskless. Elephant were everywhere and the one day we saw 7 different herds just driving around. Problem was the bush was very thick, the elephants were in big herds ranging between30 to 100 animals, most of which had a bad attitude resulting in us getting chased and charged daily. After a couple days we found a big tuskless and Brandon put her down with a 416.

Below is a variety of plainsgame taken by the group. Lots of fun was had and some great trophies taken.

Very impressive bag of trophies. The Leopard looks to be a very solid cat. Fantastic trophy in its own right.

Lots of great trophies. That Giraffe looks like an old stink bull. Good dark colors. And a great cat to boot! Congratulations.
