Just arrived from Eastern Cape again - and as usually: A lot of possibilities for rifle and handgun-hunters.
Not the best plasce for bowhunters - because the area has lot of water - and you can`t be sure that "your" waterhole will be visited.

For handgunhunters - EC must be the perfect place.

I've only hunted EC once, but I will be going back! A great diversity, both regarding scenery and animals.
Any photos to share from your hunt? Smiler

That's really the only area in South Africa that I have not hunted. I have a plan to get there at some point, as I want to still take Vaal Rhebok, Blue Duiker, Cape Grysbok, Honey Badger, Oribi, Caracal, African Wildcat, Black backed jackal(I have a side striped jackal, but no black backed) and African porcupine. I'd also like to take a Serval as well.

I would estimate about 50 species to be had there. Diverse terrain and excellent hunting.

I've hunted the Eastern cape twice with Frank Bowker's outfit. Great hunting and lots of things for the non-hunters to do. I will do at least one more hunt with the Bowker Family. My next time there will be strictly for a bunch of the little guys and bushpig.

I've hunted in the Eastern cape twice with Umlilo Safaris, great variety of terrain, good selection of animals lots for non hunting partners too do, garden route, Port Elizabeth, Addo Elephant Park, Daniel Cheetah reserve, the Lion Park, to name but a few. I'd love to go back again, but a fiancee and wedding to pay for has curbed all that.

I've hunted with the Bowker's several times and the trophy quality is excellent. I made contact with a number of ranchers that consistantly produce quality hunting consistantly. Within the last year my clients (that score) put 90% of their trophies in RW or SCI. Although I've never entered anything in the record books, everything I personally took would score well with the exception of a 36" Gemsbok bull. The Eastern Cape is beautiful, from the Stormburg Mountains to the coast. And yes, there's a lot to do and see for the non-hunter.

I have hunted the Eastern Cape twice, both times with Marius Van Deventer of Africa Bushveld Safaris. I can only agree that the cape is beautiful, and the diversity of game and the quality of the trophies and the hunt have been outstanding. I am booked with them again for 2010. I think any of the quality operators there should be able to show you an exceptional hunt.
