Dave Rademeyer, Peter Wood and Thierry Labat just finished their first safaris of the season taking three Lord Derby Eland all within the first week, along with multiple other North African species such as Western Roan, Western Hartebeest, Western Kob, West African Buffalo, Sing Sing Waterbuck, Harnessed Bushbuck, Red-flanked Duiker, Western Bush Duiker and Nigerian Bohor Reedbuck.

Congrats to NOA PH Peter Wood on his 50 1/4" Lord Derby Eland and NOA PH Thierry Labat for his 32" Western Roan.

Great trophies all but that 32" roan is a stud!

I do not understand my fascination with bushbucks, but I think I love them more than big boobed blondes.
They certainly cost less.

Jdollar - I hope you have a good time and am sure you will! Just make sure you take with you a head net, and rehydrating tablets etc. it's going to be very hot in March/April. LDE is the ultimate Plainsgame hunt in Africa........my opinion of course!

Cheers

thanks for the advice about a head net. i already have a LARGE supply of rehydrating tablets but hadn't thought about a net. i figure it can't be any hotter than Omay North in mid Oct( although that was truly HOT)!

Thierry Labat - is there a good hunting story to go along with the Sable horned Roan?

It would be wonderful to hear about the hunt from the eyes of a PH like yourself.

AR Man - the gentleman I hunted with is an AR member and he will be putting a story up. I'll wait for him to write first, as not to spoil it for him. I'll then add my 2 cents

Jdollar - Omay in October is certainly hot, but I can tell you that the hottest temp I saw in CAR was 46 Celsius in the dining room and that was in early April. I'm sure Cameroon can be the same. Expect temps of 40C+

41-43C is our average summer temp here for 7-8 weeks, so that's not too bad. i guess i got unlucky in the Omay. it was 43-46C every day and only dipped down to 30-32C at night. i do know however- IT WILL BE HOTTER THAN HELL! that's OK too, i will just slow down and pour down the electrolytes. if i even see an LDE or roan as pictured, i will be a happy guy. you had an outstanding season and i wish you the best going forward.

that's the problem with a lifetime of medical practice, Jim- you get used to dealing in centigrade/kilograms. the mental conversion becomes almost automatic.... rotflmo BTW, it was good to talk to you this afternoon. give my best to Joyce!
