Hi Mike

Congratulation on a great hunt with the A-team.
Amazing the difference between early season and late season in the Valley. Please post more pictures.

I am a fan of Emirates. I have flown on them twice now. Checking in with guns (in Houston) is a non-event and Emirates personnel walk with you every step of the way. I actually think Emirates takes special care with weapons and ammo. For example, when I arrived back in Houston last Tuesday. My guns and duffle bag (with the ammo) were the first two bags off the luggage carousel. An Emirates employee was there to collect the bags and hold them for me. He then walked with me to Customs. Perhaps because he was with me, the Customs official did not even ask me to open the weapon case and present the Form 4457's. I was literally out of the airport in less than an hour after we landed. (Global Entry is a God send. I pity the poor people that have to wait in the Immigration lines.) Emirates will put you up in hotel going over and you fly Boeing 777's on all legs. Good selection of movies too . . . I watched a total of 15 of them. Eeker

I am an Emirates fan.

Congratulations Mike....great reward for all your combined team effort, and a nice report to go with it.

Proof that it sometimes pays off to have a slightly longer hunt than normal!

Picture of two of the recovered North Fork FPS bullets. Perfect performance. The middle "bullet" is a muzzleloader slug recovered from the elephant. He had several old poacher inflicted wounds.

Good looking bullets there Mike. The North Forks are shooting best right now in my new 500. I like them a lot!

Interesting how all these old bulls are carrying poacher Muzzle Loader bullets around. Seems like every one of them have had run ins.

Mike, the emotional intensity of the description of your hunt gave it a flavor of your trophy was well deserved but most importantly that the hunt was just as treasured as the trophy. You are one that has carried himself very well in the art of sharing the great hunts you have experienced and I thank you for mastering that skill.

Hi Mike, glad you and Buzz had a good hunt. Not shooting early is a wonderful excuse to spend 19 days in the bush seriously following elephant. Probably my most memorable and enjoyable elephant hunt in terms of the experience was with Buzz along Hwange (Deka), we didn't shoot "the big bull" but spent 12-days in elephant. You shot a real nice, hard-earned bull, congratulations!

A few of those water holes look familiar! Thanks for the pictures of the flowers, it is a beautiful in the East early season.

How did the new camera work out? Any words of wisdom regarding settings that you found to work best? Anything you would do differently, or spend more time beforehand on?

Mike,
Thank you for the detailed hunt report and all the photos. It looks like the type of safari that just gets better with age and retrospect. Congratulations on the fine bull; I'm just glad the poachers didn't get him first. I look forward to hearing more in person soon.

Mike J. What a fine hunt and your report, a very enjoyable read, complimented by the finest pictures. I sense this hunt was quite special, even if it was one of several elephant hunts you have undertaken.

Kind regards

Bill, the FZ150 works great. I must confess that I barely used it though. I think I took a total of less than thirty pictures this trip. I basically sold all my other cameras and am just using the FZ150. I just put it on Auto and let it rip. Excellent camera.

Thanks Jytte.

Mike, great report and conrats on a well earned trophy.. Dande East is a special area thanks to Buzz, Myles and Bongi's anti-poaching effort and committment to same. The plainsgame I saw last May/June in the East was comparable to Tanzania. Interesting that we pulled a similiar nuzzlelaoder slug from my buffalo and Randy Martin pulled the same from his ele.

Mike,

Thank you for the quick report. Great hunt for a worthy trophy -- one that you have to earn. Those of us who love following elephant find little else as interesting. You always do a good job of sharing your experience with everyone.

Very nice, Mike. I was travelling last week so I didn't see this report until today. It looks like a good bull.

Good stuff Mike! Nice bull.

Sounds like a great hunt. I can't believe how green it looks.

Hilly and I are off in 10 weeks staying at Mukanga. I can't wait and your report has made even more keen to get there again!

Cheers

Mike - What a fine hunt! Congrats on a fine trophy that I know was hard earned.

My son & I just arrived home from spending the better part of April with Alan & Rich doing the same. Nick got his ele bull on the 5th day and I on the 13th day, just in time to provide meat for the Independence Day get-downs.

And, loved your photos! Green & lots of water.
