As for CEB's, two of my clients just returned from Australia. They both had .500 NE's with their own loads and "premium" bullets. My friend and PH, Paul Truccolo had his new .500 B&M (Michael458's cartridge) using the CEB non-con hollow points which the guys were stunned to see how they performed on the Buffalo and Scrub Bulls. I will be with Michael458 (B&M rifles and cartridges), Paul Truccolo (Southern Safaris Australia) and Dan (Cutting Edge Bullets) at DSC this year. Our island booth will be near the food court and Gun Makers Guild located in booths: C570, C568, C471 & C469. If you have tried these solids and non-conventional hollow points, stop by and see them. We can set you up with bullets, rifles, hunting safaris and all you need to get there. Cheers, LDK Cool

As I Mike. Check your PM's. I forgot to mention Mark shot his Ele bull with CEB solids. His first broadside brain shot exited the far side. PH asked him to put an insurance shot in the top of the head. It passed through head, spine and was recovered unscathed. You could reload it againg like Aaron said. See you in Dallas! Cool

I'll be using the CEBs on my Zim trip in October as well. Have had great but limited experience with them so far on game. 1 Black bear and 1 pig to date. Hoping to add substantially to that this fall!

Todd, what caliber have you been using? Since they went to making small caliber bullets, even the .22 cal's are performing great on medium game (where legal). For many years we were limited to .24 caliber and above on big game but now we are "any centerfire."

I can't wait for DSC--We are all going to have a blast for sure. I will have a bunch of the B&M rifles for folks to look at and play with--all my personal guns just to show folks what they are about. I swear I look as forward to DSC as I do going hunting these days. And that says a lot!

Guys, do make an effort to get to DSC if you can, it is an incredible show, the greatest folks you will ever meet, bunches of our very own AR guys there, and please come by and visit with me and lets drink beer and tell lies! HEH HEH hilbily

CEB's are old news on the Gun forums. They could use a little more traction here. Congrats to Sam Rose and Michael on the successes of this marvel of bullets.

My 450 NE (480 gr) CEB solids exited on a anchor lung shot AND on initial side brains of my big two old bulls last Oct. in Zim. We dug in the ground for 30 minutes before we gave up trying to find that CEB.

Needless to say my PH, Richard Cooke,
is now carrying CEB solids in his 500 NE.

Do you know if Rich has tried his 500 Nitro out with the BBW#13s? I loaded those for him, gave them to him at DSC this past January. Hope they are doing well for him......

Reports keep coming in, Lionhunter and Son in Law, and Hunting partner Carl returned yesterday. They were hunting with 2 458 B&Ms, and a 416 Remington, all with BBW#13s. Quick note from Lionhunter before he passed out from the trip, buffalo and elephant down, PH loved rifles and BBW#13s. We will hear more from Lionhunter I am sure after he recovers from the trip.

Brian1, have photos of your elephant and testimonial to CEB! HEH HEH........ Love it! Job Well Done!
Pesky BBW#13s, penetration is so good can't hardly recover any bullets! Hey, I have an idea, I can get you one from here that has been fired in the test medium, prick my finger a bit, put some blood on it and send it to you if you want???

Two BBW#13 Solids and two Non-Cons at 25 yards, off hand, with the just received 577NE earlier today. First outing with the new rifle today. Once I got comfortable with the gun, these were shots 7-10. They shoot well in this gun as they do in my other doubles.

Simply incredible! Excellent shooting. I think you find that 577 rather easy to work with, but it does weigh a lot!

When Sam first took the 577 and the BBW#13s to Africa a couple of years ago, I told him at that time he was setting foot on the continent with the most "Effective" 577 Nitro that has ever been used. I very firmly believe that as fact, and according to long time PH Cliff Walker, that uses a 577, this statement is correct.

And now, you follow in those same foot steps! These bullets make the 577 Nitro more effective than it has EVER BEEN IN IT"S ENTIRE HISTORY! It now will have the reputation to go with it's size!

Excellent!

Michael

Back from Zim less than 48 hours and still in recovery mode. But here's some brief info:

PH Al Shearing went ga-ga when I pulled my .458B&M rifle from its' bag to zero. He and the Appie used words like "beautiful" and "so compact". It got better when I put two shots into MOA on target. SIL was shooting a Win Mdl 70 in .416Rem - same as Al carries - and did similar on target. I explained the CEB bullets, as Al had not seen them but had heard some about them. To say enthusiasm was high would be an understatement. The beautiful word was used again on day one - mine is a SS 20" bbl with OEM brown laminate stock modified for proper LOP by Brian at SSK when he built it for me. There is a pic of Michael458's similar on his B&M website.

Day 1 - tracked Buff herd in the morning, let them settle and came back to them in the afternoon, SIL takes a frontal chest facing heart shot with a BBW#13 NonCon at 30 yards while buff is feeding, blows huge hole through buff heart (petals at work here) and lodges in the intestine, buff runs 20 yards and folds up, insurance shot paid, recovered original bullet during butchering, no deformation and all petals expended (none recovered).

Day 4 - Locate Ele herd digging for water in riverbed at late afternoon, Identify two tusked cows eligible for ration quota, wait for them to come out of the riverbed into the bush and move into 15 yards range, large tusked cow candidate turns her head towards us and I take a frontal brain shot as she raises her head, she crumples ass end first as I re-load while watching her reaction, PH says you brained her but I see her raise her head after she goes down, can't get insurance due to brush, herd reacts and we begin to back away as I re-charge my magazine, now dark when herd leaves and I put in two insurance shots, take the tail and some quick pics and leave to return in a.m. with road and skinning crew. Before butchering I let Al put 2 NonCons into the top of her head and the Appie put 1 solid into her neck spine, recover one NonCon with perfect formation (other is pass through), examination shows my kill shot passed below the brain striking the spinal cord which resulted in the CNS reaction paralyzing her from the neck down and accounts for her raising her head after the shot, original bullet not recovered but believed to be lodged in the spinal column. As this was a ration quota, every part immediately goes to the government camp so no further examination can be done; hopefully the Appie can reclaim the skull for dissection and possible bullet recovery at a later time.

To say everyone was impressed with the B&M rifle, cartridge and BBW#13 bullet would be an extreme understatement. After shooting it, Al commented on how surprised he was at the light recoil level of the short rifle. This was my second Ele taken with the BBW#13 solid - first was last season from my .458Lott while awaiting delivery of my B&M.

SIL tried for a Hippo and Zebra in Chewore South but no shooters were found, so we moved to Chewore North and spent the final 2.5 days hunting a bull Hippo on the Zambezi, again with no luck. The bull Hippo on the river just get hammered all season long.

Both kill shots are recorded by video cameraman. 15 BBW#13 solids and 11 NonCons in .416Rem were given to PH Al Shearing when we departed. He promised to report on their performance as used.

Looks like I should have posted this as a new hunt report, so I will make a reference post to it.

Very Excellent!!!!!! I am very pleased to hear of this, of course. I don' t think you will mind if I copy this down on the B&M thread so the B&M guys can get it too, and probably terminals as well.

Good to have you home safe, and successful!
