In the joberg airport on my way home. Had a great hunt with Buzz. We potentially shot a 60lb bull. Will know more when Buzz gets them on a proper scale later this week. Measurements are (correct me if I recall incorrectly Buzz) 18" at the lip on left with 43" stickig out and 18.5" at the lip on right with 41" sticking out. Will post photos when I get home and possibly a video. Shot a decent lone bull sable as well. Thanks for the great hunt Buzz. More to follow....

Hi Mac

Hope the trip home was uneventful! Measurements are correct and as soon was we have an official weight will let you know. Thanks for a wonderful hunt- we had a lot of fun!! The weather was kind to us and the hunting Gods even more so!!

Tracking a loan sable bull for 2 hours before taking him was also a highlight- so much better then getting off the cruiser and wacking him!

Sorry for cracking up with laughter on the last day when you were stung on the end of the nose by a wasp!! Cheers Buzz

I love Dande east for ele. I shot my first bull there in 2005. This time of year is just perfect to find those bad boys coming to the crops. I am curious if you are the same Mac that I was talking to at SCI in Vegas in 2012 because we were talking about exactly this hunt as to where and when. Next time I saw you, you had booked it with Buzz. Are you the same guy?

Anyway, congrats. Cant wait to see pictures.

Parks do not have the tags for the ivory so we are on hold for officially weighing them but I did put them on a digital scale and can tell you that the shorter tusk went 64 and the longer one 61!! Congrats- for the Valley a truly outstanding ele and you deserved him - well done indeed!!!!!

I was shooting a 470 with CEB solids. Buzz a 500 with Hornady factory's. Will need to get a photo. We recovered one solid out of the elephant. Don't know from where as the guys gave me the bullet a couple of days later they found in the meat. Front end of the bullet deformed more than I expected from what I have seen from others photos. Did not bend but the front end did expand. I will have to measure it but I bet it is probably .525" or greater now on the front end with a slight dish. Was shooting them at roughly 2260fps.
