What's your favorite Leopard mount?

nubeWhat's your favorite Leopard mount?
I just sent in my cities permit for my cat. I have been thinking for 2 years now of how I want to do the taxidermy and still don't know the best pose I want. Do any of you have any unique ideas?
I might get it mounted with a smaller little critter like a grysbuck or duiker but not sure what would look best. Saeeds leopard mount looks pretty impressive but I don't have an impala sized plainsgame animal and my trophy room isn't big enough for it either. Any thoughts?

tygersmanCheck out the taxidermy forum. Jerry Huffaker does all of my African stuff, and would have done my cat this year (but it didn't come to pass).

BlankI have a lot of hunting and non-hunting friends, but no anti-hunting ones. My mount is liked by all and is more like a leopard in real life. Very quiet mount and I love looking at it every day.

Thierry LabatNube - They are all very nice, but I particularly like the first one posted by HendrikNZ. Something about its look which makes it very real. Could be the ears and the slight open mouth. I think it would do justice to your big cat. Just my 2 cents!

shootawayI agree with Thierry-that one is oustanding.I think the focus should be on the animal and making it as lifelike as possible.I am starting not to like trees and pedestals or wood bases etc.. They make a room look like it is full of boxes or junk lying all around.A small rock on the wall or a tree limb is perfect.I find the action type mounts to be a turn off.I don`t see any reason to display a trophy that way.

NgrumaHow you mount your trophy is highly subjective, and always dependent on the skill of the taxidermist. Action mounts are OK, but for me they get old. I have always enjoyed a well done pose like Blank has displayed. The first action pose(s) are very well done. You pays your money and you takes your choice....

shootawayPeople will pay for all kinds of things but if you wanted a portrait done of yourself or your family why would you do one with you jumping in the air?

nubeThanks for the comments and ideas guys.
Here are a couple of my favorites as well as some of the ideas here.

Yes I personally think things have gotten really carried away with a lot of the personal mounts, some to the point of being tacky. I am going to look at a fellow hunters trophy room, not a museum or a contest for who has the wildest action poses.
With life size I like natural as well.
I know it is sacrilege these days, but if and when I finally get a leopard I will have a rug done so that I can look at all of that lovely hide on the wall. Sad but true.

Ditto! I'll do you one better and say that it will just be a flat skin with the eyes sewn shut and the ears tacked down....no head mount.

LittleJoeIt is what makes the world go round. I have a bear rug and some others and now think; what the heck was I thinking. Other than a Zebra I will never rug anything again.

shootawayI`ve seen alot of poorly done leopards. Some look as if they are taking a crap or were lying dead stiff on the side of the road bloated with gas.

I suppose you wouldn't unless you are a ballerina!

CCMDocI like the "action" shots and the "snarly" faces. I like the more demure shots draped over a tree limb as well. Keep 'em coming as pop's leopard should get here before years end and we will have to make some decisions.

Kind of have!! lol I will be doing the prep work for it and I have 2 talented Taxidermist who I have done work with for the last couple years to decide on who gets to put it together for me. I will be helping out as well but it takes a masters touch to get it right and I would rather not touch it when it needs it the most. One of the taxidermists have done a pile of African stuff and quite a lot of Leopard. Since I can be a part of it , it gives me a chance to make it what I want and the costs won't be near what they normally would for most people.
