Andy,
Havn't decided yet, tired of seeing all the same shit every year, ya' know. I might go just to meet some of you guys, I'm still trying to get Gary to go, he's being a girl about how far it is to Reno form Florida. Unrelated, went to Cabela's today, Glendale AZ is all but out of ammo in .223, .308, 30-06 and 7.62 x 39 Geez why do you think that is???

I'll have to give Gary a call and lean on him, it's not all that much farther than it is from Atlanta. Smiler

Gee, I would know why there's been a run on all of that ammo that feeds weapons of military origin, surely it wouldn't have anything to do with our new 2nd Amendment supporting Pres-elect. Surely he wouldn't try to enact another "assault" weapons ban. Roll Eyes

I think this ones smart, I think he'll go after the ammo and try to make us loose interest first. Probably need to move this before I get my knuckles whacked, huh.

I hunted Africa with a very reputable booking agent, and a new but allegedly good Safari Company in Namibia in 2005.

My hunt was ok, except for the shooting from the vehicle, food, shot out kudu, and constant bullshit.

I shot more big game animals in 10 days than I ever have in my life. For that it was good.

I got screwed on the trophies by at least two or three shippers and taxidermist in Windhoek and never got them.

Regardless I will hunt Africa again, as it was interesting, and I saw a lot of game, and when the bullshit wasn't going on it was pretty enjoyable.

However, I would rather hunt Europe any day of the week. I would rather spend a week hunting Caribou in Alaska, Greenland, or Canada than go back to Africa if I could only spend $10,000 on one more hunt in my life.

In Africa outside of the ranch, I felt like I do in the wrong neighborhood in the South. In Europe I was just another Germanic looking hunting goon driving through town.

Africa is interesting, but theirs more to the world than Africa.

Yup, I'm also thinking he'll also go for massive taxes on components. The guns aren't of much use if you can't feed them.

Blacktailer,

I could not agree more. If a client books a hunt expecting to get fleeced he probably will at least in his own mind. A client's mental attitude can make a mediocre safari into the adventure of a lifetime or a great safari into a disaster. It happens very often.

Mark

So very true. Hit the place with a positive attitude and take whatever bad breaks you experience in stride. After all, it's Africa, and things won't happen on your schedule, but on Africa's.

I worked there off and on for several years. I've hunted there twice and am on my way back to Tanzania in July. I can't wait.

Sure, things will go wrong, but that's just part of traveling. Go with the flow and enjoy one of the few really unique experiences left in the world. Safari.

You only live once, and it is only money. Life is nothing more than a collection of memories, some good, some bad, learn from the bad and enjoy the good. The only regret about going to Africa, will be having to wait to go again!

When things go wrong in Africa, as they certainly will, take a deep breath and repeat "OIA, OIA"* until the stress begins to leave your body.

Africa is like no other place on Earth. Things are different there. That's why we love it so.

OIA = Only In Africa
