We just returned recently from a successful Buff hunt in Nixon's Malapati area, SSG Safaris. We wound up with 4 Cape Buffalo for the group. From left to right is Gustav (Goose) from Dallas, Jess (Monkey Hunter) from the Philippines, Me (Biebs), Rick (Pagosawingnut, or "Lucy" the camp bitch), Simon the PH, and my 73 year-old Alaskan Sheep guide Bob. We had a great time. Fewer herds were seen this year, but more tracks of 1-3 Buff; the old Dagga Boys I love to hunt. Bob was fulfilling his Bucket List dream of a Cape Buffalo hunt, and had so much fun taking the first one, that Goose graciously allowed him to shoot his as well, which he did promptly between the eyes! :-) I shot an old Buff, but he made it 80 feet inside the park boundary. Fortunately the Rangers retrieved it the day after I left.

What a crew! Malapati is damaged goods now.
I'll be sitting at that campire in 6 days, can't wait. Hopefully the Buffalo will come out of hiding by then.

After running into these guys at Malapati, I can verify that unfortunately, they're no better looking in person. I think the camera may have actually taken off 10 pounds ....

Being an old 80's rocker I hurriedly opened this thread expecting exclusive photos of the band hunting in Zimbabwe... instead a bunch of codgers! Oh well, takes one to know one!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
