Buzz CharltonRebirth in Dande East: Big Buffalo
Picture of a stunning 45" dugga boy just shot in Dande East area with Hunter Beardmore and Rich- 4 years ago there was only eles in this area-now we shoot 8 buff a year 3 sable and a fair bit of plains game thanks to the removal of about 3000 snares and an effective anti-poaching team!!! The second pic is of the snares taken out of the area this year! The snares are bought home so that they do not make their way back into the bush ( My daughter Zoe in front!) We pay $2 per snare and combine this with monies paid out for poacher arrested and information given to DAPU and it adds up- June pay out was $1600. Thanks again to all those who donate to DAPU!!!!
Buzz, great job on the snares! Hey, check out my new Buzz Charlton-approved African stalking Crocs! :-)

RopatiBuzz, congrats to you and to the DAPU. I just posted that photo and details to my Facebook page and encourage everyone else to get that on social media. Who is sustaining wildlife in Africa? It's not PETA or the HSUS. It's hunters and their money!

SvinejaktThis is a prime example of what hunting does for conservation. This is what the greenies don`t get. It works! Great job Buzz and DAPU.
Donation made 5 minutes ago, keep up the good work

FishN4EyesGreat buffalo!
Not surprised, we saw some pigs when we were there last June.
Well done, CMS!
Quite the transformation of an area.
Awesome buff Buzz!
Keep well

MANDLAZIMJust shows what wildlife will do when given a break from the greed of the human race. Take's top guys like Buzz&team to turn an area around. Well done CMS
Sadly, many other areas need the same TLC but unlikely to ever receive it with the current political mind set....

Speaking of good conservation and restored hunting areas..how about a Mandlazim 2014 report?

bwanamrmBuzz,
It was a pleasure to meet Hunter and his dad in camp and congratulate him on a world-class buffalo! And congrats to you and CMS for bringing Dande East back. It has come a long way since we hunted there in 2004!
And Zoe looks a bit nervous by herself on that rock... obviously wondering why Dad had sat her there!
On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Great stuff - a telling photo of those snares

ManyatheloWell done CMS, Hunters can truly be the greatest conservationists!
18 July 2014, 04:41
R.JollyI hunted the east for four days a few days before Hunter shot that fabulous bull and I was amazed at the amount of game we saw. It was difficult to believe that it was the same place that I had hunted three years earlier.
Africa can heal quickly when given the chance.
Well done to CM and DAPU.

Buzz CharltonThanks all for the comments! Svinejakt thanks very much for the donation- it is these that make it possible - thank you!
What we really need in the East to turn it into a top Valley area is water. As many of you know there are lots of pans early season but by August these dry up and the game goes back to Moz and the "wild west" from a poachers point of veiw!
We have had bad luck on the water front having drilled 4 boreholes that were dry and put in 3 dams which filled but never held water. We are now about to start "Plan 3" which is pumping from an existing borehole in the villagers to 3 of the larger pans to start with. It is over 30 km of piping but we are hoping that this will
at least hold the game till the rains! We are also moving two herds of Zebra into the area next month!
Cheers Buzz

For what reason ?!

Buzz CharltonZebra would do very well in the area, according to a paper written by Russell Taylor a highly regarded and qualified wildlife specialist who worked many years for WWF.
With the fact that we will now have permanent water we want to re-introduce species naturally found in the Zambezi Valley. We already have a few Zebra and bushbuck but we want to bolster their numbers.

Thierry LabatFantastic buffalo. Well done to client, Rich and CMS in paticular for all the endless effort put into anti poaching and of course for everyone's donations to make this possible.
22 July 2014, 10:10
Buzz CharltonThanks for the comments on the East and nice to hear from the Zimbos on it! Neil Duck- to be honest we took inspiration on how well your area in Moz bounced back after you took out all the poachers snap traps and provided a presence in the area- so thank you!
Woodhits- thanks for the article in American hunter- information is the greatest tool and getting word out there is what it is all about!
Svinejakt- thanks for the donation ( pm sent)! Thanks also to Black Fox who donated cameras to the DAPU team which is a great way of documenting there patrols- thanks guys!!!! Cheers Buzz
that buff is a real trophy and a great job on the anti poaching effort...thanks
