Frost......I hunted with Johnny in Aug/Sept of 2007 in the adjacent region on the Luangua. I had an incredible time....took a Cookson's, buff, puku, leopard and 3 warties for the local hunters as you did with the hippos.
Great story and pics.....I'm homesick for a return.

Bwana NderoboFrostbit: Thanks for getting me pumped up, my fiance and I are spending our honeymoon with John next September, chasing Buffalo around the Chanjuzi Block. Love the bosses on your Buff! Congrats!

Hi Gary,
Your hunt report was a big contributor to my decision to go with Johnny. I re-read it a dozen times while waiting for the day.

Best of luck on your hunt. Muchinga handles everything from start to finish. You're in good hands as they say.
Ask Johnny if he is still drinking "Madam's Tea"

GarByThanks, Frost....glad I could be of help. I actually went on 2008, not 2007....freakin old age creepin in. It SEEMS like it's been since 2007....or maybe longer than that.....withdrawals of the bush. That sure is a magical place....you did yourself proud...awesome stuff my friend.

FrostbitFor the sake of a complete report I recently learned my trophies have arrived in Texas already. Laura du Plooy did a fantastic job of making sure all went well.

Bwana NderoboYou know something, I did a lot of research on this outfit before putting a deposit down. I couldn't then, and can't now, find one negative review or bad word about them. I can't wait to touch Zambian soil...

Only thing remotely negative I ever saw posted. As it turned out it really wasn't a negative about the operation or location just about the passage of time and memory of times gone by. I'd probably have the same report about the Nushagak River outside Dillingham as it is now compared to 1992.

Matt MooreTwo thumbs way up Jim! I finally found your post. The bosses on the buff are freakishly large and dome like. I would have taken him just to remove those inferior genes. Ha Ha.
Nothing but envy and respect.

FrostbitAs a closer to this hunt report I'd like to say I got a call from Jerry Huffaker yesterday that the capes and skins have arrived from the tannery and that the care of the trophies was exemplary.
I noticed that is rarely mentioned in other reports but I think it is also important.
My experience with Muchinga was 5 stars beginning to end. I would not hesitate in any way to recommend them.

MARK H. YOUNGJim,
You make a good point that is not often discussed. Field prep and dip/pack care can make a huge difference in the quality of your trophy mounts. The Du Plooy's do their own dip/pack and I've never had a complaint from a client.
