The hunting season is finally back in full swing at Munyamadzi and the success continues.

We hunted this fantastik lion a few days ago. I have been following this lion since late 2018.

The last lion we hunted at Munyamadzi was in 2017. The conservative quotas and endless anti-poaching efforts are paying off.

The Story for the hunt was quite short. Only took 3 days to get him.

Shot a hippo on first day. sent boat out to collect. After tying a rope to the dead hippo, the strong early season luangwa current got hold of the hippo. The boat then lost grip of the rope and hippo was gone. Searched the rest of the day without luck.

Next morning a fisherman reported seeing a dead hippo with a rope on its leg 5 miles down river.
By now the hippo was nice and ripe for bait. All bait up.

By some miracle or just because we are so good and know the area well the target lion hit the bait on the first night.

We sat on the first evening and the following morning with no luck. The cat didn't come in during shooting hours.
Second evening he came in just at last light.

One shot from a 375 and he only ran about 40 yards. Did feel much longer though, when following up at night.

Now time to look for Klipspringer and Grysbok in the long grass.

Sarg summed it up. It's doubtful lion hunting will be possible for all that much longer. What a fantastic trophy. Congratulations to all involved.

Well done Thor! Lucky recovery on the hippo...

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
