Great report and some excellent trophies!

nope. it is the name of the conservancy, as well as a large side channel of the Zambezi.. kind of across the road from Salambala. Karl couldn't resist putting a few rounds in the elephants just to see what they would do.it's impressive to see a large bull elephant's body rock back and forth from a 10 foot shot!!

In the interests of learning from well-reported hunts, the bullet pictures do raise a question.

Middle row, right is enigmatic because it looks like a long range impact at maybe 1700-1800fps where the petals have just started to open. At 20 yards one might expect to find the petals "blown", but then the shaft of the bullet would be shorter than appears in the picture. So my take on this, assuming the 20 yards to impact, is that the picture somehow is skewing the length of shaft of the bullet and the petals were blown. If so, the weight of the bullet would probably be about 80-75% of initial weight.

Can the weight be confirmed at 75-80%?

On the other hand, if the weight is close to 100%, then this may actually be documenting a squib load, an under-velocity load, where the muzzle velocity of this particular shot was only 1800-1900fps. Also, the middle bullet in this middle row is probably an under-powered load, though less so than the one on the right.

What follow up might be suggested?
I would want to chronograph a half dozen shots of that batch of ammo to check for consistency and to see if there are any more 'underpower' loads.
