Apart from Munyamadzi I also did a few hunts in the Chikwa concession in Luangwa Valley Zambia operated by Ivory safaris.
LeGrand already posted a report from a hunt he did with me there.

I thought I'd post a few more photos from his hunt and the other hunts I did there.

Chikwa is a great area and has some fantastic Buffalo hunting and trophy quality. In a day you can follow 3 to 4 different groups of Kakuli's (dagga boys).

Chikwa is also very good for the endemic Cookson's wildebeest.

Ill let the photos do the talking:

Love the buffalo in the black and white photo. Those deep drops flip a switch with me. All are outstanding trophies ( oops can't use that word anymore).

Trophy quality across Luangwa is very good. Contact Thor direct as he has taken some whoppers over the last couple of years.

As Andrew says, quality is very good across Luangwa, the biggest to come out this year was here at Munyamadzi Game Reserve.
The upper Luangwa in general has very good average on their late season buffaloes.

If this is of interest let me know.

Thor:

Is Chikwa primarily a big game area or does it offer a good selection of plains game through the season? Is it a large block and does it encompass both sides of the Luangwa?

Many thanks-

Chikwa is primarily a big game area but does offer a good range of plain game though the plains game hunting is better August and onwards. The following PG species are I good numbers there
Eland
Kudu
Cooksons Wildebeest
Lichtenstein Hartebeest
Crawshays Zebra
Southern Roan
Puku
Common Waterbuck
Impala
Warthog
Reedbuck
Sharps Grybok
Common Duiker
Yes Chikwa is the only area to encompass both sides of the Luangwa River.

Thanks, Thor.

Are you able to cross the river and hunt both sides effectively?

No klipspringer in the block?

Yes you can cross easily and hunt both sides.

You do find Klipspringer there but very few.
