I've taken a number of their Western Hemisphere hunts, but I found their Africa offerings too restrictive. However, if one of their packages suits you, go for it. I've found their outfitters very eager to please.

I have but it wasn't an african hunt. They are very thourough and first class. But your money would go further with other outfits. Check out Tony da Costa.com and his hunt paks are a bargain. I will vouch for the quality also. luxury hunts .com has some good deals also. If you have never been to Africa now is a good time to go. Dollar goes further!!!!!!!!!
I hunted with an outfitter in '01 thru Tony Dacosta. There were also guys there who were hunting thru Cabellas. We compared prices and animals in the package and my deal was by far the better of the two. Keep looking around before you commit.

I did a package deal with them in Namibia last fall. I thought the price was reasonable, the quality of the trophies was rather nice, Gemsbok was 40 3/8", the Kude was 56" my K Springbok was 14 1/2". I also took two Mt Zebra, a blackback Jackel and a Dik-Dik. The hunt was for 10 days, followed by 5 days in RSA (not with Cabelas outfitter) for a Rino darting.

I went to RSA on Cabela's package hunt for my first safari. I was looking at all kinds of different outfits and countries, but decided on them because I convinced my dad to go along (which made it a great hunt just for that) and he was more comfortable with a name he knew, the fact that the area is malaria free and the availability (relative to other places, at least) of medical care.
We had a good hunt and I had no complaints, but I do believe you can get more personal and therefore better service from somebody like Ann Horsman (who I booked my second trip through) or some of the other outfitters on the forum.

I booked that Namibia hunt for August '04. My first Africa hunt. Barry Burchell's Safaris. It is the Trudia camp near Etosha Park. So far, so good.
I spoke with Cy Angeloz (sp?)at Cabelas last May and he had just come back from a hunt. He said I would not be disappointed and that there were kudu in that area going 60 inches.
It seemed a good price for the size of the animals on the list.

One, I hunted that property last fall and took the second largest Kudu ever taken there (according to Kevin my PH and Fred B) it was 56" so I would not be disappointed with less than 60". I don't think we saw anything closer only one wider. I also took a 40 3/8" Gemsbok, stated to be the largest taken on the property. If you want cold drinks make sure they get enough ice on the way in. The ranch house is comfortable, electricity from generator and we cooked on the grill every night. The property is not high fenced all around and is the second property from the park. If you have time to go to the park it is a day well spent. With a day trip you will get to see about half of the park. Enjoy your self.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DO NOT BOOK ANY HUNT'S WITH CABELLA'S.I BOOKED 3 HUNTS WITH CABELLAS AND THE FIRST 2 WERE GOOD. ON THE 3RD HUNT I HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THE OUTFITTER AND LEFT AFTER 3 DAYS OF A 10 DAY HUNT. EVEN THOUGH THE OUTFITTER ADMITTED THERE WERE A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS ( I WILL GIVE YOU THE DETAILS IF YOU WANT.).CABELLAS WOULD DO NOTHING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION,PERSONALLY I THINK THEY ARE THE WORST BOOKING AGENT OUT THERE.YOU CAN DO SOOOOO MUCH BETTER!!!!!!

I booked a hunt through them. I think I got excellent value for the hunt, however, once Cabela's got my money, rarely could I get in touch with the guy who I was working with. I also tried to book travel through them and they would never return my call.
