I shot one of armalites ar50a1's yesterday and was amazed at the reduction in recoil provided by the muzzle brake. It's loud, but recoil was very mild, no harder than a stout 30/06 load. Plugs and good muffs are definately recommended. I can't report on accuracy as the ammo shot was low cost. But even then it was about 1 and a 1/2 moa.

One of the funniest things about buying an AR-50 is that mine came with a pair of earplugs and a two pack of tyenol! The muzzle blast is wicked but like you say there is very little recoil!
