Hey Guys,

I have a new BAT Machine 50 action on order and decided to make my own reloading press over the 4 month wait on the action. I used a 110 volt hydraulic unit with a tredle foot switch for reversing the ram direction. I haven't finished reloading any rounds yet but I resized a bunch this morning and it was a pleasure to use.

Thanks,
John

Wow - any more information or plans etc would really be appreciated. What pressure does it take to F.L. size .50 cases ? If each case is lubed the same -this set up should give very consistant headspace on sized brass .

I find that the hard part is to figure out what you actually need -the easier part is to make or buy it!!

I use Hornady Formula One dry lube, it is practical.
All fired cases up in a box to spray inside collets, spray, make them fall , spray, make them roll, spray and on the way.
Takes less time to do it than to write it.

I tumbler clean them before.

I guess the hardest part of that whole thing would setting the throw length properly with the ram? I guess you'd build the bottom end first, activate it and then decide how long to make your spacers and such.
We have a nice press kit that the millrights at work use. totally portable, works on 110V, weighs maybe 25 pounds including the box of rams. Will generate over 8000lbs of pressure. I think the whole kit is around $500. wouldn't be hard to take it, and make a similar setup as this. Thanks for the idea!

Very nice!!!

What's with the sectioned posts at the base?

Install some opto-electric limit switches to control travel so you don't have to guess or damage the dies or shell holder.

Excellent job! and pretty too!
