Well here it is..

165gr Speer SP
57grs Varget
2,590fps
Hmmmmmm may try a little more powder.Anyone have a clue on what powder to try next..? For better velocity. *NOTE* Same load in my 26" tube went 2810fps that's only 220fps faster than the 16.5" pistol. [Eek!]

T/C Nut,

If you are shooting a 300 Mag(Win ?) I feel you are using much to fast a powder. For that bullet weight go up to something on the lies of 4350, RL-19 or RL-22.

These powders are just barely on the fast side for heavy bullets in a 300 but for the 150-165, they will prove better suited in the short barrel, also muzzle blast will increase but so will velocity, nothin' for free I guess.

Tfy some powders in that burn rate and see what happens, I'm sure they will out run Varget by quite a bit and pressures will be easier to manage.

Good Shooting!!!

I have tried 4350 with 180's 165's and 150's..
Velocity was..
2680fps...180's
2687fps...165's pressure was starting to get high.
2870fps...150's I did get 2900fps with XLC's
-------------------------------------------------
I have tried 4064 that was better with 165's and 150's.Avg. velocity ran 2766 to 2810 with less powder.

T/C Nut try IMR4350 and the 165 Nosler Ballist tip bullet, they work great in my 15" Encore with 2600fps velocity, and 1 inch groups or less.
