Lately I have been getting daily listings of
LEO trade in's from AimSurplus.com

Some of their prices are mighty tempting.
Very few revolvers, nearly everything is pistols and just about all of them made are offered.

Not being a pistol guy I have been hesitant in buying any. A recent listing they had was S/W model .40 M&P SS slides. Any of you have them?

How about some good honest experience with this particular gun. I am about to drop the card on one, maybe a pair of them with an extra mag each. 15rnd cap.

I need something simple without the buttons and levers.

Discuss the prices a bit too so I can get some idea what to look for and pay for good used guns.

Thank you,

George

A couple of guys used to use .40 SW M&P’s in our local USPSA league.

I didn’t see these guys having any reliability issues.

I don’t see those guns much now due to those shooters either changing divisions and switching to 9mm guns or getting a 2011 style gun for mag capacity increase in .40.

.40 is losing popularity in general- it has more recoil than 9mm so it’s not the current “in” thing.

So my experience is that the M&P is pretty reliable, service pistol accurate, and while it doesn’t have the best trigger, it’s ok.

Can’t help with current used prices.

Thank you.
I sent the order in yesterday for a pair of them.

Recoil hasn't bothered me too much until they sting my hand.
Then I cut back on the powder.

Several years ago I got the bright idea a .40 would be a good one in the Backhawk.
Since I had two .357/9 combo's, a 6" K38 and two 642's. I rented a reamer, bought a barrel blank and turned it to the proper taper.
Had our best local gunsmith drill and ream the 9mm cyl out for .40.
I never ran it over a chrono as I should have. It lacked so much in recoil it felt like a pipsqeek popgun. Only judging it by felt recoil. My only load was a full case of #9s, 170 cast SWC.
It shot great, just didn't seem to have any power.
I bought 3lbs of Clays to try a hotter powder in it. Never got around to try it.

Just lost interest in shooting & loading.

Hell of it is I have full 2 gallons of cast bullets and full 5 gallon bucket of .40 brass.
Many primers. no ambition.

I ordered these two guns thinking they might get me off my dead ass and get interested again.
All my other handguns are Blackhawks, whole bunch of them in various cals.

A good friend, or my grandkids will end up with my guns, so what's two more?

I never got enthused by a 9mm for some reason.

I have never had any quality pistols.
Couple pos Kel-Tecs, a Jennings that locked up the second magazine.
Sold it broken for what I had in it.
All the others I have shot were loaners to try at the ranges.

Thanks again,
George
