Some of the older Rifleman and others from the 1950s through 1970s had valuable and tested reloading data and good information for the older cartridges still used. The powders mentioned are still in use like IMR 4350 and IMR 4064...3031 and 4895. Examples of cartridges: 405 WCF, 30-40 Krag, 45-60, 45-70, Sharps cartridges along with the 33 WCF and 348 WCF. Also, older issues of Handloader and Rifle Magazines are very valuable along with the discontinued Double Gun Journal. Avatar

I wish I could find a copy of the first article I read about the conversion of the m71 to .450 and .50 Alaskan . Was a pretty good article showing many photos of Fuller's and Johnson's shop and staff and is to blame for me spending the next 50 some odd years trying to buy a m 71. Never saw one in a shop nor one at any of the Tennessee gun shows that was for sale. The few I did see were permanently installed in big Winchester collections around Middle Tennessee. I think it was either Elmer Keith or Townsend Whelan who wrote it but I can't remember and am not sure which magazine it was. I read it in the mid 60's and it could have been new or one of my pap's magazines from the 50's. My grandmother dumped it along with others one day when she decided to power clean my room. I do have the Double Gun Journals for a good number of years , got a stack probably 3 feet long and a bunch of Precision Rifle and the Skeeter Skelton magazines published by Pederson. Also still using loading manual by Belding & Mull , Lyman , Ideal that go back into the 1930's as well as Phil Sharp's book. Grumpy old man with a gun,,,,Do not touch.
