BULLSHIT! Practically the whole of FIFA’s upper management was indicted over the bribes. This was over a much longer period than just the last couple cups, too.

BBC has an interesting podcast online now about the fall of FIFA upper management due to the Russian bid for 2018 and Qatar for2022. A lot of folks ended up in jail for offering and accepting bribes. Seth Blatter got the boot and heads of a lot of national African and other third world nation football association presidents got indicted. Russia bought their bid acceptance and so did Qatar. I loved it when the Iranian team refused to sing their national anthem today in protest of their authoritarian theocracy. Of course, they will probably all be dead or imprisoned in a few weeks.

Alcohol is still available at World Cup games- if you have the money. It has fuckall to do with Islam and everything to do with greed. Qatari laws obviously have a high degree of flexibility.
