Hello;
My wife just bought a subscription of Canadian Geographic and in the first issue we got, they spoke of an article they had pulished in a previous issue about some Canadian moose that were released in New Zealand at some time in the past. Supposedly, there are still a few in the Wilds there. First time I ever heard of this. Anyone know any more?

The last bull moose was officially shot in 1952 i think. Since then im sure others have been shot unofficially by the fisherman down there. The terrain is unsuitable for them so
they never established themselves very well. There was 3 bull moose shot and a few cows as well. theres a guy who has spent alot of time and money trying to find them with surveilance equipment but no moose have been seen. Browse sign, droppings and prints have been found tho.

Hey Grizzly Adams
The guy Jet referred to is Ken Tustin. The moose story is very interesting and something alot of us in NZ are keenly watching.
Please take a look at www.nzwt.co.nz/history.htm
Enjoy.

Thankfully there are some very clever and dedicated professionals out there doing an amazing ammount of fact finding that for us as hunters has the potential to reap huge rewards.
NZWT is but one of such groups and knowing the people involved I would unashamiable urge all of you to at least have a good think about what Ken is doing and prehaps pass the word on.
