Perhaps you guys aren't aware of it, but today Mary Elizabeth Donaldson from Tazmania became Denmarks Crown-Princess!

Naturally, the tv stations here in Scandinavia have been filled with the wedding and documentarys about her with a lot of filming done in Australia and Tazmania. It looks beautiful down there. I was suprised to see that Tazmanians arent't just sheep molesters as I had previously though! She's like a bright, great looking girl with a hell of a lot of outdoor interests, and took an incredably short time to learn to speak Danish. A language challenge even for me as a Norwegian to understand!

If only we had been so lucky here in Norway... Instead, our Crown Prince ended up with the worst kind of coke sniffing, trailer trash possible as our future queen...
His sister was able to marry a looser who pretends to be a writer. His last book dwelled long and hard on what are presumably his gay experiances in north africa... Looks like emigrating to Denmark might be an option.

Well, at least you can take pride in having exported a prime piece of Australia! Congratulations!

Tasmania is a state of Australia, not a separate country.
People wouldn't go around saying,"Denmark's New South Wales Crown Princess!".
I watched the whole pomp on the telly with the wife(points scoring)
Freddy had a good cry as Mary walked up the isle.I recon it was after seeing she wore an off white dress and realized she wasn't a virgin.(despite what she told him)
Ah well who wants a learner in the sack.
More than a couple blokes around who have got some good stories for the boys at the pub I recon.

Good luck and best wishes to both of them I say.

Seems to be a better match-up than Di and that sack of shit Charlie.

Shaun,

I think I might have expressed myself poorly. I do know that tazmania isn't a separate country!!! Haven't been there, but wished I went while in Australia in 88 for some months.

Virgin or not, she's a hell of a lot better in everyway than our "semi-pornstar" crownprincess here in Norway...

I'm not sure if people in Australia realize how important the royal familys are in Scandinavian countrys. They have no power of course, but are unifying factors in our respective small countrys.

You will have to excuse Shaun here, Eric , he comes from pro-republic stock and cant wait to see the back of Australias connection to the British Royal Family .

The fact that the lovely Tasmanian lady knows how to shag is irrelevant , obviously prince Whatever his name is is mitten , and she appears to be a nice lady , so good luck to them .

Royalty for small nations is a very important part of the structure of those societies , and I think they have a lot going for them - even if there are no actual powers involved.

You stick with your pro Royalty views, what happens in your country is your business , go for it .

Associated Press
Mary Donaldson of Australia waves to the crowd as she arrives for her wedding ceremony at Our Lady's Church in Copenhagen to marry Danish Crown Prince Frederik.

Like many Tasmanians, Donaldson learnt to travel early and make new friends in strange places. When she first went to preschool it was in Houston, Texas, where her mathematician father was teaching.

Well, I'll be.... Houston... small world isn't it!?

My best wishes to the couple and to Denmark and Australia.

Sincerely,

Yes it been on TV a fair bit.
Gotta say ,she has a lot more class than the girls I used to hang out with. They havent even been able to dig up any dirt on her.
Still ,I think it would have been more interesting if he would have knocked up "Shazza from western suburbs of sydney", she would have looked good walking up the isle in her tight blue jeans ,boob tube with puppy fat hanging out below ,ugg boots and packet of winfield reds under her shirt sleeve.

She seems to be a nice girl and hopefully will make a lovey princess and future queen.

While I have definite republican views I think a country choosing to have its own royal family is its own affair. I DO have a problem having a foreign British Royal family as our Royalty in Australia. Especially as they are such a pack of inbred idiots. Maybe we could invite an offspring of Mark and Frederik's down here to replace that idiot two-headed Charlie and make the monarchists and republicans at last both half happy.

The Danish Royal family seems to be a respectable lot.

I visited Denmark in 1989, only Copenhagen, Roskilde, and Klampenborg, but enjoyed it very much. The women there are all absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately while it was summer it was a cold week and the girls were too covered up for that time of year. Lovely towns and cities and countryside. It did break my wallet a bit especially the restaurants. Klampenbourg was wonderful with all the falow, red and roe deer plus pheasants. I enjoyed the hunting natural history museum in Roskilde and have since had a secret ambition to establish a similar one (if I win Lotto oneday).

I have a couple of friends here who were Danes and al their lovely roe trophies make me drool. Maybe one day will get back there.

Good luck to the Danes for their special day.

If Fred was crying so much I guess it's because she's the one who'll wear 'the pants' in that family!

Gentlemen

I thought that Australia and New Zealand already had cut the ties with the pommies Royal family.

Actually the Kaiser of Germany, the Danish Royal family, Russian Tsar, Austrian Hungarian Royal family and British Royal house were relatives.

Cheers

The Queen of England is the Head of State of Australia and also of New Zealand.

Her appointed representative is the Governor General who must approve the appointment of all Commonwealth Government ministers and Prime Minister, all High Court Judges, must approve all laws, changes or new, is also the Chief of the Military, plus no doubt numerous other bits and pieces.

All on the "advice" of the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister nominates the Governor General and can dismiss him as the Governor General can also dismiss the PM if needed.
