Yep, seems they were detrimental too some of the rare endemic species of wading bird. DOC quietly removed protection about 10 years ago I think it was.

My daughter complained that the California quail disappeared from her orchard about a month ago. I set a live trap. In a week I got 2 female cats and 6 kittens. We released a bròod of pheasant poults with a broody chook a week ago and they are still all there so I must have got all the poor little pussies. Great photos TP!

Yes, cats are a curse (the girls here have two) but at least you don't have foxes. I love eating pheasants but they don't flourish in the wild here. Will you have them on your new place, Craig?
