I have a friend in NZ that invited me and my wife to come visit him and hunt Red Stag and Tahr while we are there. One problem, due to work issues we can only come the first two weeks of March or April. This I hear is a good time for Stags but the Tahr do not have their winter coats yet. I would still like to get one as I might not have the chance to do this again. Does anyone have a picture of a Tahr during this time of year ?

Thanks

WLA

You will find it reasonably easy to obtain a Winter Cape, from any of the NZ Taxidermists. Cheers.

Thanks TrackersNZ,

It is still an impressive animal even without its winter coat. Thanks for posting the photo.

This one is not a particularly big one. About11 1/2-12 inchs. But it does show you the coat colouration for late March, early April. Some of the Bigger and more mature Bulls will be more maned up even in April, but dark in colour. Cheers.
