This question has probably been asked many times already. But is someone able to describe to me the steps required to take my gun (And Ammunition.) from New Zealand to Australia (Vic) for a 1 week hunting trip, then bring it out again. ...."At some point in every man's life he should own a Sako rifle and a John Deere tractor....it just doesn't get any better...."

What state, hunting with outfitter/public land/private land?? All this depends a little state to state. NT you have to use an outfitter to get your import papers and temp. firearm licence - this can all be handled through the outfitter. Other states you can get your papers with public land access or private property permission. This might help you Tim http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=4372 http://www.defence.gov.au/stra...ontrols_Firearms.pdf Not difficult , just time consuming. You cant use a local rifle on your hunt - might save a bit of paperwork. ________________________ Old enough to know better

Just got a reply from from Vic Police. You have to get your application in 28 days prior to travel, so that buggers that idea. Will see if I can use a locals. ...."At some point in every man's life he should own a Sako rifle and a John Deere tractor....it just doesn't get any better...."
