Anyone have experience with 125 gn in the 303 B. I have a jungle carbine and want to try some 125 gn Hornady projectiles. I'm currently using 41 g of 2206 for my 150gn.
I'm thinking of trying 2208.
regards
rob

Rob,
What speeds are you looking for? I'm preparing to use the Hornady 123gr in my Nagants at 2400fps for Military competition and use Blue Dot shotgun powder. If your after reduced velocities AR2205 should have some application as should AR2207, all depends on what speeds your after.
Cheers...

I have used a few 123gr bullets in my 303's here is my experience
I was going goat shooting so I ordered 100 each of the sierra's speers and hornady's I was using them in my 1944 Lithgow with a new tight Indian barrel I loaded them all with 42gr of 2206 the speers were the most accurate so I chose to use them I ran some over the chrony and was surprised to find that they were doing 3000fps so I thought that they would be pure death and destruction on goats they were however dismal they exploded on the skin leaving a shallow surface wounds so I started to section my bullets to see what they looked like inside I found that the speers looked like they were copperwashed the sierra's were nice with a jacket that at least you could see and the hornady's looked like a big game bullet they were really thick so I chose the wrong bullet I should have used the sierra's or the hornady's I did later discover that the speer's were not recommened for game larger than coyotes
so out of a no5 I would expect you should be getting aroung 2500-2600fps with reasonble loads of 2206 I personally think that 2208 is a little slow for 123gr bullets in 303 (especially in a no5) but by all means try it your rifle may well love it
in my own no5 I have used 43gr of 2208 with 150gr (not 123gr) and was getting 2350fps
40gr of 2206 got me 2250fps
42 reloader 15 got 2150fps with 180 remington bullets
40 gr of 2208 gets 2170fps with 180 remingtons
45gr of 2209 gets 2150 with the 180 remingtons
I thought I had some data for 123gr in my no5 but from memory my rifle didn't shoot them very well I may not have recorded the veloicty
