Anyway - to get back on topic, if I HAVE to eat that sort of stuff, Fray Bentos Spred is my fave ....

My grandma, born and lived in Australia, and my mother, born in NZ and lived in Australia, I started on it as a young child. It is absolutely great stuff on any type of bread but my favorite is Vegemite mixed with a strong blue cheese on a bagel.

Vegemite with a strong blue cheese on a bagel is fantastic, but a warning:

On the down side or up depending on the level of roach infestation is that on the way out it will kill anything in a 20 foot radius...

Just had a swipe o' Vegemite on my Wasa bread in honor of this thread. Had forgotten how salty it is.

Frank - you just dont understand the Australasian phsyche at all . Marmite is the stuff generations of kids grew up on , went through several Global Confrontations on , stomped through the jungles of South East Asia and the sands of the Middle East on.

Nah, Muzza's a good sort.

Funny thing, I used to be in the US Navy and I was trying to get on the USS Ray (a nuclear submarine) in 1984 that was going on an around the world cruise. Then we heard that New Zealand had banned all US warships from entering the country and that Australia may do the same thing so they cancelled the trip.

Muzza is ok,just don't let him near your windows with a golf club

I thought NZ only banned nuclear warships from their ports? Australia never did of course... and why would we?

Nah, it was just a rumor then but it was enough to cancel the trip.

I don't know if I fancy Muzza or not, I haven't seen him.
