Laugh it up - meanwhile Australian and New Zealand world domination rolls on, fueled by these 'super foods' ......... and large quantities of beer.

Bren7X64And I thought it was "Ma might, but sister's a certainty".
Overheard from my grandmother. Old people can be dreadfully crude when they think you're too young to understand.

Does that explain why you brought young sister into the picture?

Bren7X64If I actually had a sister I might have taken umbrage ....
As it is, it's something I overheard ....
Anyway - to get back on topic, if I HAVE to eat that sort of stuff, Fray Bentos Spred is my fave ....

Paul TunkisMy grandma, born and lived in Australia, and my mother, born in NZ and lived in Australia, I started on it as a young child. It is absolutely great stuff on any type of bread but my favorite is Vegemite mixed with a strong blue cheese on a bagel.

Paul TunkisVegemite with a strong blue cheese on a bagel is fantastic, but a warning:
On the down side or up depending on the level of roach infestation is that on the way out it will kill anything in a 20 foot radius...

Bill/OregonJust had a swipe o' Vegemite on my Wasa bread in honor of this thread. Had forgotten how salty it is.

muzzaFrank - you just dont understand the Australasian phsyche at all . Marmite is the stuff generations of kids grew up on , went through several Global Confrontations on , stomped through the jungles of South East Asia and the sands of the Middle East on.
To denigrate Marmite is to cast aspersions on the very Spirit of Anzac. And its ANZAC Day later this month too.
Tread warily , oh philistine ... ;-)

TOP_PREDATORANZAC may not mean as much to Americans after are being told to f**k off by some fat socialist wanker of the 1980s

Nah, Muzza's a good sort.
Funny thing, I used to be in the US Navy and I was trying to get on the USS Ray (a nuclear submarine) in 1984 that was going on an around the world cruise. Then we heard that New Zealand had banned all US warships from entering the country and that Australia may do the same thing so they cancelled the trip.

Marmite was a staple during the war.
Some kids didn't like it - my mother
- but were made to eat it anyway due
to rationing and the need to keep up
Vit B intake.

I thought NZ only banned nuclear warships from their ports? Australia never did of course... and why would we?
Also - when you say Muzza is a good sort... in AU terms - that kind of means you fancy him!! Who knows with you Navy boys though eh??

Nah, it was just a rumor then but it was enough to cancel the trip.
I don't know if I fancy Muzza or not, I haven't seen him.
