The 2006 has been a big one for me. Thought I'd share a few more photos taken over the past few weeks. Enjoy This lady shot a very nice Feral Goat, it scores in the top 20 of SCI trophy records. Here's a nice Silver Medal Red Stag http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i113/trackersnz/b39467af.jpg ...."At some point in every man's life he should own a Sako rifle and a John Deere tractor....it just doesn't get any better...."

The snow came in June and July, but didn't slow us down any. Here a very nice Red Stag. We also hunted Sika on several occasions. You have to go to the North Island for these. These two Sika were exceptional. One shot free range and the other shot on a Game Ranch operation. I'll let you guess which is which. ...."At some point in every man's life he should own a Sako rifle and a John Deere tractor....it just doesn't get any better...."

This young girl is 10 years old and shot this Red stag using a 300 WSM Bansner. Shot it at 147 yards and hit it dead on the dot. Couldn't have done better myself. ...."At some point in every man's life he should own a Sako rifle and a John Deere tractor....it just doesn't get any better...."

Bird Hunting was a blast. Always a good way to fill in time during bad weather or between Big game hunts. We hunted Ducks, Canada Geese (Greaters) and Black Swan, as well as Pheasants and Quail. ...."At some point in every man's life he should own a Sako rifle and a John Deere tractor....it just doesn't get any better...."

We shot a lot of wapiti this season. The biggest scored SCI 490 and is a new No.1 for the SCI record book. This one scored SCI 377. A Non-typical head and a most memorable hunt in the snow. So now it's all over I'm looking forward to a bit of hunting for myself. Off to Alaska next week to hunt Black Bears, Grizzly and Caribou. Can't wait and will hopefully have a few stories to post in a months time. Hope you all enjoy the photos. Apologies if the formatting is not 100% and the file sizes are large. Regards to all. ...."At some point in every man's life he should own a Sako rifle and a John Deere tractor....it just doesn't get any better...."

G'day TP. As you can see I've finally worked out the photo posting thing. I'll take my video to AK, I did last year as well and got some good footage of two Bull Moose having a scrap, this was shortly after I'd been treed by one of them. I was stuck in the tree for over an hour. Biggest problem is that the video packed up in the wet conditions (SE Alaska) I'd welcome any advice on how to overcome the moisture problem. Just got one of those fancy DVD video cameras, and have been practising on the guided hunts. BTW If you're down this way, come and have a crack at the Canada Geese, I've got quite a good set-up now (Boat, Blinds, Decoys, Calls etc), and there's plenty about. You can hunt them all year round. ...."At some point in every man's life he should own a Sako rifle and a John Deere tractor....it just doesn't get any better...."

I got a Sony DVD back in March, very happy with it. Few tips about them, battries don't last long and always, always take a spare disc with when hunting. I ran out of room on a disc in on my Buffalo hunt and missed a cow being shot You can buy water/shock proof cases, that you put video camera in and use the camera when its in this case. I'm very keen on some Geese, ill stay ill touch. "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." Sir Winston Churchill

some nice animals, its a shame there not all wild.

Yeah I wish they were all wild too, but just isn't going to happen with current game management regimes here in NZ. Guess this shows potential of what could be. ...."At some point in every man's life he should own a Sako rifle and a John Deere tractor....it just doesn't get any better...."

Gidday Tim, Looks like you had a great season. In photo 2 is that the Waitaki valley in the background or the Haka. I need to get back down your way to get into the wallabies so I can get some dog tucker. You don't have any places that need culling jobs done on them or goats do you??? Happy Hunting Hamish

Nice animals, where did you get the seed stock from? I am surprised by how many non-typical red stag trophies you harvest, is this common in New Zealand or do you manage for these trophies? Also, how do you calculate the annual offtake on the ranch? Is it 50/50? Cheers, Gabriel

in most cases Boghossian the stags are breed on velvet frams for bulk size then sold to the game pack for people to pay big money to shoot this is a few pic's of some velvet stags on a propety just north of Taupo that are heading for game parks. some of the bigger ones off this place get to 30+ points ugly heads if you ask me i'd rather have a nice even 12-16point head any day but each to there own

For Alaska make sure you go the hard, sealed case route. Take 3-4 times the batteries that you think you would ever need. Same advice as TOP PREDATOR on the discs as well. Keep an eye on the light in that part of Alaska also. With a low, grey, THICK overcast be sure to choose between sharp focus/appatrent grain size versus getting all the action in the can. Keep an eye on the purge valve on your case. LD PS I've schlepped Pelican cases all over the world over the years. Hopefully they make a camera case. If so, it will get the job done. LD

Hey Tim, great pics! I saw the stoney point shooting walking/shooting sticks in some of the shots...how have they held up? I haven't ever hunted with a set for very long...wondering how long they might last. Travis Use enough gun... Shoot 'till it's dead, especially if it bites.
