This pristine Goose ran out of gas over Lake Clark on jan 3,the ice wouldn't support it on it's wheels and it got frozen in. I wasn't involved but by all reports it was a project getting it back in the air,,about 3 days ago! I tend to use more than enough gun

Did he try landing wheels down or on the belly? It looks like you guys are cold enough now to really thicken up the ice. Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship Phil Shoemaker Alaska Master guide FAA Master pilot NRA Benefactor www.grizzlyskinsofalaska.com

Here's a DeHavilland Caribou that landed on (in) the ice at a neighboring lodge a few yrs ago. The salvage what a little more involved, but it did fly away in 3 months. I tend to use more than enough gun

Amazing. Recovering that Caribou is absolutely amazing. I flew one out of Miami for a while. Tough bird. R-2000's and leaked oil like a sieve. It was an old Air America bird. You can find pics on the net. N544Y.
