For sale is an original Marlin Ballard barreled action with double set triggers, completely rebuilt by gunsmith John King of Kila, MT. The barrel is 28 inches with a half octagon/round barrel and a double wedding band. Originally 38-55, John rechambered to 38-55 Long. I did not feel it had a good bore, so JES Rebore converted it to 40-65. All parts were gone though and replaced as needed. I have John’s work order showing all he did.

The receiver, lever and custom buttplate were case colored and all other metal parts blued. Rear barrel sight dovetail has a plug installed and an MVA combination tang sight, copy of the Marbles sight, was installed. The front sight is an original Rocky Mountain blade sight. Custom stocks were installed with an ebony tip on the forend.

The rifle is beautiful and unfired since rebuilt in 2017. Selling as I have gone in another direction with my BPCR rifles.

It is drop-dead gorgeous. And John King does wonderful work. Hope you find it a new home very quickly. Funny how .40-65s seem to have gotten scarce lately.

Thank you. Even have new Starline brass for it if the gun buyer wants to buy that also.
