I picked up the Model 70 rebarreled to 7x57 today. What a great rifle!! The Featherweight stock has been professionally shaped down, custom checkering pattern added, butt stock hollowed to lighten, Neidner butt plate and Biesen grip cap added. Barrel is marked on the underside "Douglas Airgauge," and turned to fit the original stock barrel channel. My gunsmith added a Redfield one piece scope base, I brought in a matte finish Leupold VARI-X III 2.5-8... she is ready to ho!! Fine piece, add ammo... ready to go!! Thanks again Biebs!! Great find!! It really just looks like a nice pre-64 Model 70!! A keen Model 70 collector would say "that's not an original Winchester checkering pattern!!" I am pleased...and looking fir some Norma Oryx ammo!! CheerZ, 470EDDY | |||
