I was able to handle this rifle while in Steve's shop and the pictures do not do it justice. It is super clean and super well balanced. Much nicer than any of the current Rigby bolt rifles that I have seen. One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know. - Groucho Marx

Dave, it would be a privilege just to handle that lovely Rigby. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Very nice piece!! If I hadn't just purchased a nice rebarreled pre-64 Model 70, nicely reshaped stock, I would have jumped on this one!! Looking for an original 416 Rigby on the standard 98 action!! 470EDDY

Don’t mean to derail this listing for a fine rifle, but is a transitional action a small ring Mauser Model 1898? Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

Mike, A transitional action refers to the bolt not having all of the features of a 98, there is no shroud lock on the bolts. The transitional actions can be either large or small ring, this rifle is a large ring. Steve

Requesting a picture of the bottom metal especially the door. Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

Looks nice. Bet that cycles flawlessly. Too bad it wasn't ordered with a straddle floor plate. Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

I do not believe that was an option when this rifle was built, I could be wrong but every transitional action I have seen has the military type bottom metal.
