Great story again!!! i was in Austria for a wedding earlier in the year in Kitzbhuel and the local hunting tradition is really evident with each house/chalet displaying Red stag and Chamois trophies in their eaves. FB

Another good article... looks like he moderated his ranges and shot placement choices compared with the earlier chamois exploits! Maybe he had some adverse/ doubting correspondence.

Are there any records on German trophies taken through the years? I am curious whether the trophy management undertaken shows a net increase in trophy size over the years. While the author does take a nice stag, there are much larger animals taken each year nowadays. Is that just a result of WWII leading to a reduction in numbers...or was this truly a great stag for the area?

Apparently still, in Austria all Chamois trophies taken need to be submitted to the annual chamois exhibiton whhere all the heads are displayedover a weekend. After the exhibition they are sent to the hunters. Not sure if there is somethign similar in Germany. FB
