My guess... a 45 ACP. A clean flesh wound it seems, loosing the big toe would be a severe handicap. This happen ever so often with handgun shooters Arild Iversen.

That would smart for a few days, I sure hope no foot was in the shoe at the time of the holemaking. Edit( that ought to teach me not to look at the "hidden" images before lunch) Looks really painful. Yes I would guess, something large but not a FMJ 45 ACP but rather something with a sharfrand like a SWC or WC in 44 and larger cal, judging by the cut edge of the leather. /Best regards Chris

Likely a wadcutter of some type. He'll not win too many sprints for a while. Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

OK Pictures emailed to me from a friend who is a trauma surgeon and I have permission to post this on the internet since he uses it as lecture material with the patient's permission. It is actually a 30-06 point blank. The gentleman was driving with a loaded bolt rifle by his side when it went off after hitting a pot hole. The driver still manages to drive himself another 20 miles for help. NO this did not take place in the UK. Witht the help of grafting I am informed that he is walking unaided but with a limp. PS He still shoots a 30-06 BTW....HAHAH I cannot resist posting this following the red stag caliber thread .......

I thought you guys were going to have a ding dong over the entry and exit wound and the merit of powder burn residue AKA C.S.I. ....... There is another twist to this. The bullet went through the brake pedal mechanism and in effect he drove the next 20 miles with no brake and had to pace his speed very carefully. I wonder if he can do that if he had loaded a 125 grain travelling at 3700 FPS as compared to a 150 grain softnose ?

Quite a story That beeing the result of a long gun never hit my mind..... and the brake pedal as well. As the old saying goes; be sure that there is a safe back stop behind your target Arild Iversen.

Surprised it was a 30/06. I would have expected more damagearound the wound from a rifle round. Damned nasty though. The muzzle blast of a rifle inside a car can't have been pleasant either.... Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

This has been discussed on a different board on AR under a different head. http://forums.accuratereloadin...043/m/9381034011/p/1 The first two pics seem to have been deleted by the OP,don't know why.Seems the "victim" was shooting sporting clays and shot himself in the foot. HAH It shows how inaccurate the internet can be. I actually know the medic involved in this case whom I met at a conference. We are both shooters and he produced these photos when we were discussing gunshots injuries and management. Sombody must have obtained these from somewhere and posted it with another story... How interesting....
