| Do it if you like the caliber combination of the Duo and if you think that you need the shot barrel... That's quite depending on the type of hunt... (For example I would use a double for driven hunts whereas I would take a DUO in a small caliber like 5,6x52R for fox and roe and a large caliber like 9,3x74R for boar and red deer on night & still hunting) Just from an economic point of view: The price of a new standard Duo is 4198€ vs. the price of a "luxus" S2 is 4156€, so if you also get R93 Offroad you are much better off - that would make my wonder why is wants to do such a deal... I would also recommend that you have the half beaver tail front stock on the Duo - much better to grip! Best regards, Erik

| I paid E4280 for the S-2. The D99 is $4500. So a R93 Synthetic on top of that's probably not a bad deal. |

| The more I think about this the more it makes sense. I can restock the D99 in the states with AAA English walnut for $1500 if I decide I later want a fancier handle.
The addition of the R93 is great too. It will give me another one to play with. |

| What calibers do you use in your D99? What's a second set of barrels cost.
I am probably going to buy a second set of barrels in 22 Hornet, 7x65R, and 9.3x74R later on. Talk about the perfect rifle for big game! Or a second D99 a Super Luxus this time though. |

| Have you handled a D99 with double rifle barrels?? I found it a pretty heavy gun - no criticism, just an observation. Because the Blaser combination barrels are not soldered, they have to be quite a bit more sturdy than barrels soldered together, that adds to the weight quite dramatically. - mike

| Yes it's a heavy gun. I don't plan on using it on elk hunts in Wyoming as that's what I have a stainless M700 Custom Shop 338 for.
I plan on using it for Wildboar and Black bear on baits. Just as I had planned on using the S-2.
I think it will work well. It's not going to be a gun I carry much. |

| Guys, do any of the D99's come in 12ga ? I remember reading about them thinking what a great gun they would be but seemed all of them were only 20 ga....

| Thanks Mike,. Thats a pity as I notice for the other most affordable double rifle drilling- Merkel 97 - you can't get two rifle barrels with a 12ga either.
Would Blaser do a one off on a 12ga barrel do you think or would this be a waste of big custom $$$$$$?

| I spoke with the Blaser "People" at the Dallas Safari Show about a 12 ga D99. The answer was NO.

| Doh..I just emailed them about it too.
You'd think the option of getting 9.3 x74 x 2 indicates the hunter doesn't mind carrying a bit of weight, and probably isn't interested in shooting squirrels with the outfit.Ah well.
Anything else you know of NE 450 in the two rifle config?- not tipping the 5000-6000 euro mark too far?

| Karl,
Get a Blaser S-2 Safari in .470 it's regulated to Federal Ammo. Beats the hell out of trying to figure out what a .450 is regulated with. |

| Kokdyer, Sorry I meant '450' as in asking member 450 NE, the guy who answered my last post. Not the calibre 450. The calibre I'm wondering about is 9.3 in a double rifle drilling that also has 12 ga option.
Just found out Mathelon is another that offers only 20 ga.
Looks like this is a trend.

Karl, I don't think the issue is weight, rather it is what they can (or rather can't) fit onto their action. They would have to make a totally new action to have a 12 ga fit. Blaser's drillings have always been 20 ga - something I was never crazy about... I'm not quite sure if Krieghoff offers a double rifle drilling with a 12ga shot barrel?? I can't figure out whether their sidelock model might have that option (pretty pricey...) Krieghoff- mike

| That would make sense if it is do with a standard action size.
Yes Kriehhoff are a bit out of my price range unfortunately.

| I have handled a D99 9,3x9,3x20ga. and I did not find it heavy. It handled very nice. Kreighoff does make a 9,3x9,3x12ga. If fact they have a model that is 12x12x9,3 that has an insert bbl in 9,3, giving you the option of which drilling configuration to carry on a particular day. It is called the Krieghoff Quadro. It is a litttle pricey

| I like how the Blaser drilling is set up with the rifle barrel below the scope. Meaning the rifle barrel will be in tune with the way the scope is pointing.
I can't tell you how many combo guns I have seen where the shotgun barrel was on top and it screwed up the mounting system, by not being in direct line with the bore. |

| Kokdyer, a bit over of my self imposed price limit unfortunately.
I know little about drillings but I quite liked the look of the blaser drillings too.
If they they offered the trio rifle with 9.3,9.3 and 30R blaser I would get one of those. Unfortunatley by their specs sheet it appears 6.5 is the biggest calibre for the small barrel. Thwarted again!

| A D99 Trio is about $5500-8500 for a Standard to Super Lux.
9.3x74 x 9.3x74 x 30R Blaser would not be possible mine is 9.3x74 (x2) x 20 gauge. I am not entirely sure what the reason is why no 3rd big caliber. Weight possibley? |

| Not sure mate. Unfortunately 20 gauge and calibres 6.5 or less do not hold much interest for me. Great chamberings but not for me.

| You could go to Ferlach and have those master gun makers turn you out a 9.3x74 x 9.3x74 x 9.3x74 x 9.3x74. Or any other calibers you wanted but it would be about 100K AUD, without engraving. 3 barrels, 4 barrels, you name it! |

| G'day Karl, The only one I can think of that meets your requirements is the Merkel, which does come as a 9.3x74r/9.3x74r/12g. price looks to be about the AUD $8000 or so mark. Try ringing Granite Arms, they are the people I talked to. Cheers, Dave.
Cheers, Dave.
