Hello All,

Apologies for my tardiness in getting the details sorted for you, but things have been somewhat hectic!!

Happily though I have details for you all for the AR Euro Hunt 2009.

We will be hunting in Baldock Hertfordshire as per last year over the weekend of 20th to 22nd Febuary 2009. Arrive Noon on the Friday and depart after breakfast and cleamup on Sunday.

The final costing for the hunt will be £290 per person, to include the following: (copied from last years post!!)



· 4 Outings In A High Seat
· Breakfast After Morning Stalks At Shooting Lodge
· Dinner After Evening Stalks At Shooting Lodge
· Some Snacks Through The Day At Shooting Lodge
· Drinks, Including Beer, Wine And Soft Drinks.
· Use Of The 100m Rifle Range
· Trophy Fees for all Does & Spike Bucks.

This will NOT include:

· Hotel Accommodation
· Transfers From Home/Airport To The Lodge And Back
· Rifle Import Permits, (Additional £20)
· Rifle & Ammunition To Be Supplied By Each Individual
· Trophy Fees For Bigger Trophy Bucks, (to be confirmed).
· Venison To Be Taken Home , (May Be Bought From The Estate)
· Anything Else That Isn’t Included That I Forgot To Add Here!!!


A couple of things have changed since last year. Primarily DJM has arranged for a couple of guys to run the larder for us and take care pof the Gralloching. Some help perhaps in unloading etc may likely still be required but generally this shoule make life a lot easier.

In addition the location that was a "fair" drive away is no longer being used so long car journeys are unlikely.

Finally I will make sure that I have a decent supply of smoked venison to help soak up Brians Whiskey!! (and perhaps a couple of Cigars...)

When pete gets back from chasing sheep, I mean Red Stags, in the heather we'll get him to make it a sticky on the Forum.

I do not require payment just yet but will let you know when we are ready to start taking money, (probably another month or so)

The only thing I wold like to know at the moment is if anyone feels they may have interest in anything trophy sized or a go at Chinese Water Deer, as these will be limited.

There you go Kiri, news has travelled fast about your smoked venison and Brians whiskey!! The only thing that will be missing is myself and Mr Yates cutting large chunks of venison rather than thin slivers - this will surely make it go further!!

I am currently experimenting with various whiskey options. Just finished a bottle of Red Breast - 10 years old single pot still - strictly for research purposes. A bottle of that might find its way into my luggage.

Steve, I know what you mean. I could quite happily travel there to eat drink and be merry. I can shoot a deer any time.

I'm not sure if there's much in the way of phone reception up on Araan but you could try to call them....

I don't think it would be a problem. You would just have to pay accomodation and for the food and drink, although we would have to check first. Would you want to go out on the hunts with someone but not shoot or just meet up with the guys back at the lodge after the hunting?

OK, Kiri, Put me down on the list. Hopefully my wife will be in New Zealand and my new 308 will be sweet.

We meet on the Friday lunch time at about midday for the briefing and shooting test which everyone should pass prior to being allowed out on the ground.

This is followed by an evening session and dinner back in the lodge which is provided. saturday we have a mng session followed by breakfast and and evening session followed by dinner. There Will be a mornign session on the sunday again folowed by breakfast prior to departing.

The venison remains the property of the estate but if you allow us some notice we will be able to arrange carcasses for those that wish to buy them.

If there are any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Sadly the Visitor's Firearm Permit from last yeat will be invalid (15/01/2008 thru 14/01/2009) Ugh! so I'll require mine to be re-done.

For me, standard, vanilla-flavor Fallow Hind & Pricket culling is O.K.

Kiri, not exactly sure what information you will need, but yes, I can confirm I will need a UK gun import permit.

Are the permits normally valid for a year?? I'll be staying on in the UK for a few days after the Baldock to-do, and will still need my gun permit to be valid for those days as well.

Do you want gun details (make, model, caliber, serial number, number of cartridges, passport number) in a PM?? Oh, btw, Gerry just forwarded me a form, I guess I can just fill that out and forward it to you (need your address, though).

My temporary firearms permit got the same dates as Gerry´s, therefore I will need a new one.
When I was in Baldock last month, Paul told my that I would not be able to bring my 300WM in February?
Can you please find out if that’s true.

As I understand it the 300 Win mag is not cleared on the land we hunt at Baldock by the local firearms constabulary.

If Paul has said that you can't use it then I suppose that's the deal as he's the boss.

What else do you have that would be suitable?

please excuse me, I saw only today your answer to me. In the meantime I had a PM by KimR That proposed to me to share the high seat looking to have good photos and good time with all the others. for this reason my choice should be that I want to go out on the hunts with someone but not shoot, except photos.

Anyone at Heatrow on 20th of February at about 9:00-9:30 AM? I'll land at 8:45, wish to find someone else to share taxi or rent a car. In the last case If I find someone to follow, I can be more relaxed.
I've already studied the road mat from Heathrow to Baldock. Not so difficult. Maybe the worst part is to get out and in to Heathrow

Still no FAC, though Anybody else received theirs??

It seems the UK is suffering from an unusual amount of snow at present, it could be our high seat experience will turn out slightly colder than anticipated....

Last year when Gerry turned up at the UK border, the Customs Officer in charge wanted to be able to contact the place where Gerry was going shooting (for whatever reasons, verifying FAC or whatever?). Does anybody have an address and a phone number for the Baldock Estate??

I should have the FAC's upon my return to the UK on Monday and I will forward them to you straight away using the fastest method available.

I will also PM you my number and that of IanF so that in the unlikely event the customs guys ask any awkward questions you can call one of us for the answer.

Looking forward to seeing some old faces and some new ones, and I'll have a couple of Cohibas and some smoked venison I hope to liken up the apres hunt!!

Righto guys,

The TFP's and the shotgun certs are on my desk this ng. I am just waiitng for Kim's address and I will have them all in the post to you recorded delivery with a guarenteed delivery date.

Please be aware that you will likely need to sign for the letter.

You will also need to sign the front of the TFP & SGC in ink before travelling with the guns as the lack of signiture efferctively renders the licences invalid, thus you are not properly licenced.
