I'm in - sticking to 6.5 but this year I have a T.T Proctor in 6.5x57 instead of the old Mannlicher Schoener stutzen. I'll try not to drop it out of a tree the week before we go

Kiri, I'm in. Deer and Pigeons (maybe). Don't need an import permit, I might even have a new rifle instead of that nasty 270win. Smallbore, a Procter 6.5x57? You are a gentleman of refinement and taste. I hope it doesn't get rained on.... Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Kiri A great trip in the offing once again and it is very commendable that you take the time and effort to put this together for everyone. I would love to come along, actually for just the pigeons, however purely due to the commitments I have with the other ground I have and limited time etc etc I will have to decline so please knock me off the list. I am sure you will, yet again, have a brilliant time and at a different venue which sounds very interesting. Best as always JB

Ladies and gentlemen, it is with deep sadness and regret that I have to say that I"m getting married (and can"t come this time.) As some of you know, I moved to Canada and have 2 trips to the uk planned in the coming months and can"t manage a third. I know this one is going to be a fantastic weekend, and wish everyone success and a fun and safe trip. I hope to resume attendance in 2011!

Sam, is that "sadness and regret" that you are getting hitched, or that you can't make the bash? To be fair, it is a bit of a hike from Alberta... Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

OK, "CONF" for "deer only" from over here... (YEEHAA - we are going hunting again :-). Is it ok to bring over a Rem 11/87 semi auto for the pigeons? Skype username solvijoh
|
one of us |
Solvi, The semi auto will be fine. In fact many guys I know that shoot large numbers of pigeons prefer a semi as it is light on the shoulder for the high number of shells they sometimes have to fire. Rgds, K

I'm looking forwards to it. Solvi, let me know well in advance if you want picking up from Airport en route! Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened. Sir Winston Churchill

Will there be accomodation available at the Manor from thursday to friday as well? Or do I have to make other arangements for this single night? Arild Iversen.

Steve, not resident in an EU country, but nevertheless... When we applied for our UK visitor's firerams licences last year, EU firearms passes were supposed to be forwarded to the UK authorities for stamping. I guess that does include the UK in countries associated with the system of the EU license. It is otherwise a somewhat incomprehensible system. Some countries (e.g. the UK and Sweden, I believe) still require their own national firearms licensing be applied on top of the EU system for visiting sportsmen. Some countries (e.g. Germany) seem to have finally accepted the idea that the EU pass should suffice (at least for firearms in transit), and some countries (e.g. Hungary) allow entry with firearms included on the pass with no additional national license issued. I have a feeling the "official" idea is to have the EU pass forwarded to the authorities of the country you intend to visit, and have them stamp the pass for verification. To me, this has always seemed a rather risky approach with an official permit - in partcular one as expensive as the EU pass is... - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon...
To me, this has always seemed a rather risky approach with an official permit - in partcular one as expensive as the EU pass is... - mike
Sorry ! Expensive ? Are they not issued free ? They are at least in Rep.of Ireland,Denmark and Sweden. Anyone have to pay actual loot for theirs ?

Gents, For the record the process for impoting firearms for sporting purposes into the UK is fairly simple and has the following requirements. The application has to be made by your UK sponsor which will be me. You will need to send me the details I need (name, address DOB etc which I will inform you of shortly), on a sheet of paper along with proof that you are authorised to hold a firearm in your home country. If you are in the EU then you also need to send me your original of your European Firearms pass. I will make a package up for each individual and send it to my licencing authority. They will issue the permit and send all the docs back to me, and I will forward onto you. The permit is valid for a year and can have several guns on it so I reccomend that you all apply for a couple of rifles and a shotgun in case you might come back later in the year. This has been a fairly straight forward process in the past so although I cannot guarentee that your pass will not get lost I can promise that I will send it at all times by registered [signed for] courrier or post to make it as safe as possible for you. An interesting comment on the EFP by Mike that it is expensive. Here in the UK it is free to anyone holding a shotgun or firearm certificate.... Not often we get to point score on our foregn friends licencing proceedures!!! As an aside, the only thing that is a real risk to getting this done properly and in time is how quickly you get the docs to me in the first place so if I get everything in a timely manner then I'll take care of it this end. Rgds, K

Steve, You can change your mind closer to the date providing there are enough places left for pigeon shooters. The estate are able to provide built hides for clients but decoys etc should be provided by individuals on the whole. There are some available to rent but most times i tend to just use the shot birds and we can arrange that for you perhaps with some frozen birds from the previous days sessions. Rgds K

Thank you Mike, I do not really like the idea to send an official document in another country to have it back with a stamp, if it goes loosed I have to spend a lot of time to get a new one and there are probably a lot of troubles because it could be considered a no or little care management. But I know also that I've been checked at Heathrow airport. In Italy the EU citizen just exibit the passport or a Identity document passing at the police check point but normally there are not strict checks. @ SIKA98K In Italy it is necessary to pay about 30€ in Government stamps, beeing the EU Gun passport considered like a licence. bye Stefano Waidmannsheil
