How does my season go?, well I only get the chance to stalk deer a maximum of four weeks in total, & I am grateful for that blessing, but my "season" is a never ending one, as I am very fortunate to have unlimited vermin shooting from rats & rabbits, through geese & other winged stuff, but my passion is fox lamping, & last night I was blessed with two fox single handed while waiting for my bud to turn up, & then a further fox that he took with my .223 as his main foxing rig is in dock, I won't spoil this thread with any pics of my season as I have only had three Roe this year!courtesy of IanF & Jo in Devon. 308,

Is it still the case that it is illegal to even have a rifle and a lamp in the same vehicle?

Nice pics by the way.

I think you are correct Kiri, I was surprized how many hunting rules and regs there are in Canada.

The roe buck was shot after I had arrived and realised I'd taken the wrong 243 ammunition. Luckily I had a box and a rest. 2 shots later I was set to go. Plan was to call in the woods so I didn't need to worry about MV or trajectory. Of course this chap duly appeared at 225yards.... BTW the carcass tray is a teat dip drum cut in half with rope handles, cost nothing, size and rigidity etc perfect for a couple of bucks.

The fallow buck refused to appear while I was in the seat but was below it when I came back. The seat was put up to try to take one of the big bucks on the edge of the ground that was around in near darkness. He showed at midday!

The does proved that an ASE compact really is quiet, all from the same group, the tree guards give a clue why the whole lot had to go.

The red has taken since 2000 off and on and some serious effort since 2004. In retrospect it was as well I didn't shoot it then as my carcass recovery and satelite larder wouldn't have coped. By this December having proved and improved it on a number of hinds and a few spikes I was able to recover and string up this 14point without anyone else touching it.

Thanks to Claret for posting them
