Hi guys, we must be halfway through the season for most of us, how about getting some reports up? I have had a busy time this year between red deer stalking in Scotland and driven boar in Croatia, at the end of the day my favorite hunt is solo stalking for fallow deer on my small patch in wiltshire.

Shooting small verminous rodents with HV 22 centrefires is possibly the most fun you can have with your clothes on. I would love to get to the States or Canada for a few days of that. My season has been a bit flat for reasons some of you know. I had a Sika Pricket in September and a nice Fallow buck on October. Couple of good days in Croatia, one confirmed pig, one possible. I intend to make up for this lack of action fully over the next few months. Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

I'm having results similar to the Gopher, with .223 on rabbits on a 16 acre field at present, as long as you manage a head shot they are salvageable for the freezer for the dogs!

A bit excessive! Couldn't you have chucked a rock at it instead?

Well tom if you cant beat them join them aint that the truth. But as seasons go i have had good success taking out others. Here,s a chap tom you might know from your own web site he was unlucy till he met me. Some people help other it is harder than causing conflic all the time.

Longshot Hanging on the coat tails of someone else in order to gain a degree of respectability only works for a while. The truth will out as they say. I'm sure you charged him, who ever he is, a hefty fee for the chance to get lucky. I'm sure the revelation that your help comes at a cost sheds a whole different light on the subject. I'm also sure your far more familiar with causing conflict than I'll ever be. How many times and how many sites have you been banned from?

You know "Tom" for a newbie you seem to know an awful lot of people here, and seem to be picking a lot of fights too. Don

Tom i have no problem answering your inquiry even if i dont really need . To the chap asked me to take him out stalking because he had not been succesful on other stalks. A chap i had took out recomended me as a chap he could trust. I took him out and he had a good morning seeing between nine and ten deer. That led to him shooting his first ever deer and hopefully leading him on to even more success. The cost of the outting was £50 no more no less. Now if you think thats out of order then fine i can live with that. Keep it real and you might last more than a week this time.

Don Unlike the US the UK is a might small place, and the hunting forum scene is rather limited. The usual suspects normally turn up on a number of fora. As is the case here with SLDG. As I have posted else where. So whilst new here the familiarity comes from that wider group of UK based fora. Picking lot of fights? No not really. I'm simply trying as Longshot always says to keep it real. That way folks are as fully informed of the agenda's, as fully aware of who's who, and as fully aware of what's what as possible. That way they can make an informed judgement on the subject, and the poster. I hope such well intentioned objectives meet with your approval?

Longshot Thanks Good to see you admitting that your help came with a cost. Something you conveniently omitted from your original post. Is that helpor paying for the privilege? I seem to recall you've being banned after a matter of 2-3 days at different times from various fora. Perhaps you can suck up to the admin here better than you did over on SD and last a wee while longer than you did there.

Tom while the SD forum could not see through your vindictive pm,s it is obvious that the members here have spotted you straight off I think you will find that the charge of £50 to take some one out with no added extras is very resonable indeed But this thread is about how is your season going . so i think it beter we stick to the thread.

The way this thread has degenerated is a perfect example of how poor this forum has become. Cliquey, overly UK based, argumentative and lacking experience. There was a time that we had experienced stalkers from all over Europe - Fritzkraut, Mats, Daniel M, Montero, Stefan K, 10.3x60R, MHO, Deerdogs, Ian F, etc etc who used to discuss hunting and share trophies etc.

I agree entirely. This forum is on it's last legs unless things improve. New members here have always been made welcome, advice and assistance has been freely given to anyone who asked for it. Unfortunately, we seem to have one persistent bad smell who keeps returning to poison every thread. Now it has degenerated further with people bringing grudges from other sites to this one. More input from mainland Europe would improve things considerably. Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

This used to be about the best forum around, but it has become an infantile playground. I miss the days when it was a European hunting forum.

i find the ignore function most usefull in this case. bog please dont stop the new treads, this place should not be disrupted by a few lesser beings, we just need to act as we allways have done and hope that the smell goes away either by force or by boredom. best peter

Longshot Please don't try playing the wounded party. You simply don't have the good graces to pull it off. I'm not a member of SD, so your vindictive PM's have nowt to do with me. Fight fire with fire and all that. You open comments about the guys dead father were what got you banned the last time. Again nothing to do with me. Claiming to have offered help whilst failing to admit that the help offered came with a price tag, is like claiming to have offered to buy a round of drinks then holding out your hand for contributions from those around the table.

Richard That is the way of things when a particular select few become dominant within a forum. All forums evolve, and change. Some cope, some don't. Some of the old guard stay, adapt and support, some wither and die. Some just bitch about how it was so much better in the early days. I suppose some take comfort from an old familiar blanket. To borrow a line from Monty Python. "Eeeee! Kids these days don't know they are born".

Please Tom Mix and SDLG, take it PM. 1894 is of course correct. My own season hasn't been to bead all things considered, a well earned roe, a lucky monster fallow buck, vermin, feathered game and a spot of wreck fishing. Oh and all the adventures with Boghossian which being hunting related, count. It could have been worse....

pretty good until my knee went out, but i still managed 4 decent bucks in the summer time. rest of the season so far has been shoots which has been a tremendous amount of fun, but no time for stalking, hopefully between christmas and the new year best peter

Gab, the 1 I shot was a young female I would have said she about 25kg the big male that Brass Thief shot was alot bigger (he was so big that he had to be shot with a 300WM!! ) I think he would have been 40kg+ I asked about lamping them in a local gun shop I thought they were going to kick me out!! lamping is illegal in Canada and if you are cought by the Fish&game cops you are going to jail! they are very very smart animal and are not easy to shoot, and when they are spooked I have never seen any animal cover ground so fast in my life!

I got 5 deer and a badger(and I can't get locked up for shooting a badger here!) My deer were all freezer oriented, with one little whitetail buck. Shot my first mule deer does(3 antlerless tags)and they're good eating despite what a lot of folks told me. Hope to get some more coyotes soon(good fur, it's been in the -30"s for a week or so) and some jackrabbits. I do miss the UK stalking seasons. I can't believe I don't get to shoot a deer til at least next august(bow season) Good luck everyone with the rest of the season and Merry Christmas!

What a view mate! Makes up for the short seasons...though I'm not sure about this -30 business. Wonder how a bullxstaghound would do on those yotes?? No subarus cruising round to test that theory I guess. Richard that summer fallow has a stunning coat, would have made a great flat skin... How much did the pere david deer weigh roughly? It looks massive.
