Found the Mayerl custom bullets on the net someone hunt with these bullets ?

Just heared of the bullet�s one or see an advertising in a sport or hunting tours catalogue, but that�s all.
Guess it kind of the same bullet like
- HDB von Reichneberger
- KJG from Lutz M�ller ( in partnership with G.Schultz from RSA)

or the
Impala Bullets.
In one of our local "german" Forums, you can read a lot about the goods and bads and of course the little "war�s" about which bullet is better or superior against the other.

Mayerl have in common with Tonheim bullets, a small customm bullet maker in Norway. www.arms-ammo.no Click on the green text,unforunately it is in norwegian ,but you can find pictures of the bullets, new and some expanded bullets mostly taken froom norwegian reed deer.

I have not used or hunted with these bullets but I have used the Impala bullets and they are very accurate.

I am also in the process of making my own bullets based on a disign cross bread GS custom Barnes triple shock X and impala and lost river balistic J36

Well here they are:
Brass Copper and brass and nickel mix.

I have not named the bullets yet But will soon
The long rifle is coming slow and steady I am in the process of getting the stock blank this week or next week.
I am further more looking at the different styles of shape.

Soo it will be 8X68S or any other caliber?

Has your friend chronographed the CDP ammo loaded in the "black monster" Does it live up to the printed charts?

Yes the longrifgle will be in 8x68s naturely

My friend has not chronographed the CDP ammo in the black monster. but I will do it when I get the longrifle done.

I will also make a bullet for the 8x68s fast real fast High BC and max penetration, moderat expansion.

The blaser CDP ammo is top draw no doubt there If they made for the .500 Jeffery I would buy a BOX

Please note that there is no connection between GS Custom Bullets and Mr. Lutz Moeller of KJG. No partnership, no agreement or anything else. My father invited Mr. Moeller to hunt with us during the winter of 2003 as he expressed an interest in distributing our product in Europe and he visited with us for a week. Upon his return to Germany, he lodged a patent application for our exact drive band design and started producing bullets that are close copies of our HV bullets. Fortunately there are some design elements that escaped his attention and are not included in the bullets he produces.

The information regarding GS Custom (Gerard Schultz) on Mr. Moeller's website contains errors and is therefore not reliable information.

I am checking back on Gina's behalf. This is partially our fault as well as the fact that the 358 Norma has a bore and groove specification all of it's own. The 350 Mag Rigby and 9x57 are 9.060mm, the 35 Whelen, 35 Rem and 350 Rem Mag are 9.070mm and the 358 Norma is 9.100mm. Check the spec sheet here. . The market for a bullet that is usable in just one caliber is not a priority with most manufacturers. I only completed the development of a dedicated 358 Norma bullet in September this year and we listed it on our Tech Data page and Order Page early this month. Check with Jaktkulor when they are placing their next order. I am under correction but I think we may be the only manufacturer with bullet dedicated to the 358 Norma Mag.

The link you gave is for bullets with grooves in them. They are similar to ours only in the fact that they are not smooth. The way a grooved bullet and a drive band bullet like our HV and FN works, is very dissimilar.

Grooved bullet - A normal profile bullet with grooves cut into the shank. The ogive meets the shank at a diameter equal to the groove diameter of the barrel. Grooves in the bullet shaft are cut to a depth that that bears no relationship to the bore diameter of the barrel. The total grooved area is less than the total remaining shaft area.



Drive band bullet - The bullet is manufactured to a diameter that conforms to the bore diameter of the barrel. The ogive terminates at a diameter that equals the bore diameter of the barrel and immediately steps up to a band at barrel groove diameter with a series of bands following the first. The total drive band area is less than the remaining shaft area of the bullet.



When a grooved bullet is driven from the case, through the throat of the barrel and into the rifling, the lands of the barrel engraves a portion of the ogive, the first section of shaft up to the first groove and then the shaft from groove to groove.



When a drive band bullet is driven along the same path, only the drive bands are engraved while the shaft of the bullet rides on the faces of the lands of the barrel.



The advantages of drive bands are:

Less pressure is required to get the bullet through the throat. This increases speed while peak chamber pressure remains at safe levels.

Barrels run cooler with less throat erosion and less fouling.

The pressure curve rises smoothly. This causes less vibration within the system and increases accuracy.



See this page and then repeat the test with a smooth or grooved bullet. The difference is readily apparent.
