Right after I got rid of the coon, a big skunk came out in the pasture about 25 yards past my deer blind, which is 310 yards from my basement door.

Here's that part of the backyard:

Here's a zoom in on the blind, the skunk is just past it on the left.

Here's a 3X zoom from the other side of the skunk back towards the house

The wind was blowing toward the house and we got a big whiff when he died.

They always spray. Even if brained.

I was out there today, and it still smelled.

I killed dozens when I was trapping they always spray.

The last one I killed was about 30 yards with 3 inch turkey load.

The wind was blowing the right direction.

Why do skunks smell----so blind people can enjoy them also!

Bahahahahaaa!

The smell lingers for a looooong time. What's interesting to me is that raptors will eat a dead skunk over a possum if offered the carcass choice.

Shove a dead skunk down a hole with just a couple of tail hairs sticking out.

A trap in front one will have a coyote shortly.

I set a live catch trap in my barn with the intention of trapping a feral cat, got me a skunk instead, Now what ? I decided if I popped him between the eyes with the .22 he might just die quietly. he did too, just leaked all over the barn floor. Big Grin Bleach chemically neutralizes the smell, something I learned while working at a local gas plant, skunk spray is similar to the odorent used in natural gas.
