Lost track of this thread. Thanks Samir for bringing it up again.

Henry: Thanks for the info. Question now. Do those bullets exit, do you save the hides or just kill 'em?

Have at it man, you're doing great so far!! Great pics too.
George

George, the varmint ammo do not exit, and yes we do safe the skins I have them tanned normally and use them to make all kinds of stuff.

I like hunting jackals because of the challenge to out smart them and call them in, its a lot of fun

They look much the same as our coyotes.
It's a challenge to out smart an animal that hunts for a living. A real thrill to watch them coming to a call.

I've used only mouth blown calls. Way different than the way most guys blow them. I really lay it out there hard. Then soften it in spurts like the rabbit is really suffering, whimpering and being chewed on at times.
Showed some folks how I do it and they were almost in tears with sympathy for the poor rabbit they were listening to.

Hunted with a guy that killed a bunch every winter for the furs. Said I'd never call one in that way. Another guy along said: "like hell, this morning he called in five on five stands and we killed three". It don't work that well most of the time though. Sure feels good when there's a witness along.

Haven't been out in yrs, too many things in the way. Now I'm not able to go.

How many of each do you kill a year?
Thanks,
George

Henry:

Next time I am in RSA for business I will drop you a note. This is the kind of hunt I wanted to do in August, but only had a week over there and it was completely filled.

these two animals make awesome full body mounts. I have been lucky enough to harvest both during plains game hunts in RSA during daylight hours.
I did the Jackal standing on a short pedestal, and the Caracal lying on a branch.

Congrats on all of them,

Rich

This guy was causing "issues" for a rancher in SA. I believe we called him in with a Fox Pro.
