Hello, I'm new to this forum - I've enjoyed reading the posting from the regulars.

I would appreciate a starting load for the .22 Hornet in a new Anschutz 1730D Classic HB. This little cartridge merely sips powder so a pound is going to be around for a while!

If anyone is shooting a late model 1730D Anschutz in the .22 Hornet caliber and wouldnt mind sharing their "perfect load", I would appreciate hearing from them. I'm attempting to avoid a huge collection of powders and bullets, or combinations there of, that don't shoot well in this rifle. I know "dream on", but one must start somewhere.

Best,

Will

Congrat's on a fine rifle. Mine is a Meister grade standard barrel, with a 6X20 Leupold. I load 13.2 grain LilGun into a Win case segregated by weight in lots of 50. Bullet is a 40 grain V Max set close enough to the rifling to preclude using the magazine, most of my varmint rifles are single shots anyway so I don't care. I use a WSR primer. This load chronos right at 3,000 fps , and shoots so good it's scary. I'm guessing a lot of guy,s are going to try to talk you into loading your Hornet up to a .223 ,and to each his own but my quest was for best accuracy , if I need more velocity I grab another rifle. A lot of bs flies around various web sites as to accuracy velocity etc so with out too much horn honking I'll just say that the last time at the range my wife shot a .226 5 shot group with this rifle which was not at all unusual, .2's and .3's are typical. Good luck.---Shoot Safe---montdoug

I load my C.Z. with 11.7 gr. of H110, 40 gr. V-Max. and CCI small rifle pimer. Remington cases, neck size only. Almost 3,000 fps. Shoots .3-.5 groups consistently. I havn't worked on improving this load because I can't shoot any better.

People tell me my 1/4 inch accuracy is unusual.
My load is 9.7 grains of 2400.

I load my BRNO with 13.3 grains of Lil' Gun, Winchester brass, CCI SR primers, 40 gr Hornady V-Max and neck size only, they zip along around the 2900 fps mark and I can always get under an inch ar 100 yards, the rifle is probably capable of better but I am not. I have just got hold of some Vectan powder to try, all I need is the time and good weather.

I had good groups with my Anschuts1432 .22 Hornet using 52 grs hpbt bullets, N110 Vithavuori Oy powder 8.9 grs.
It seems thst this baby likes heavy bullets.

Thanks, to everyone responding to my qury regarding .22 Hornet. I very much appreciate the input.

Regarding some of the comments:

I currently shoot a Rem 788 action in .222 with 26" Douglas 7/8" dia. barrel, 6 x 20 leupold and CanJar set trigger. I've been shooting this rifle for 17 years.

The Hornet is a long time desire. Less noise and something new. A Challenge!

Thanks to all who responded.

Best,

Will
