When I purchased my CZ 22-250 I bought a couple boxes of the Federal 40 Grain NBT. Now I can't find anyone who has it and back orders are not being accepted. Does anyone know what gives with this? Assuming that this round is no longer available what is the closest manufactured product that will perform the same? I don't shoot enough to re-load so I buy my ammo already assembled. Does anyone know of bulk 22-250 in a NBT or similar performing round that isn't ridiculously expensive? I am beginning to wonder if I wouldn't have been better of with a 223. Thanks

The Rem or Win 45 gr HPs have performed well for me in both .223 and .22-150. Cabelas has them - be sure to check the quantity as some are bulk, some are 20 rounds, some are 40, etc. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas...cat603453&hasJS=true Also - Black Hills with a 50 gr V-MAX (comparable to the BT) http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas...cat601233&hasJS=true If you want bulk volume and don;t mind a 55 gr bullet - http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas...cat601233&hasJS=true or Remington bulk - http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas...cat601233&hasJS=true Here is the Win 45 gr HP that has worked well in my gun... http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas...99&id=0042032210889a You can search their site and see if they offer any with the Ballistic Tip

I am testing a .22-250 X Bolt and got a case of 45 gr Win ammo. That combo punches .6 inch groups at 100 yards. I am impressed by both the ammo and the rifle.

You might want to revisit the reloading possibilities for you. Lots of fun, not that expensive, and you can roll your own to truly maximize any performance that you might think you would want from all your shooters.

My notes don't have what the load was, but I disassembled some of those Federal Loads with the Nosler 40 grainer BT for a doctor friend of mine.... measured the powder, chronographed several and was able to duplicate it using commercially available powder... it was a BLC 2 sort of powder they used.. handloaded proved to be a little more accurate in his rifle..... if you don't handload them yourself, maybe you can find a buddy who will load them for you... our local Wally World seems to get those bulk 40 round packs in, that use the 45 grain HP bullets.. both in 22.250 and 223..

For "off the shelf" stuff without breaking the bank, the Winchester "white box", 40 rounds per box, using the 45 grain HP loading will not disappoint too many folks shooting either the 223 or 22-250! Finding them may be a chore!! I had an XP-100 one time in 223 that I would not load for because their was no use in spending the time with it and wasting powder and primers and bullets when the 223 stuff was available at Wal-Mart for 13.95 for 40!! I used to buy the 22-250 stuff for 15.95 for 40 when breaking in barrels and just to get brass for that rifle...........and they shot like a house afire and rendered a lot of vermin "D.R.T.".........unless they flung them a bit and then they were "D.R.T."!!!!! Last time I checked with one of my distributors(I have the gunshop now also) they were 2360 cases of the 223 stuff backordered!!!! GHD P.S. The Federal bulk loading utilizing the 50 grain HP loading that comes in 200 round count in't bad either!! That same 223 that liked the 45 grain Winchester would follow a Burris 3-12 handgun scope with the BP reticle out to 400 yards with uncanny accuracy!! Groundhog Devastation(GHD)

+1 for the Winchester white box 22-250. I bought three boxes for my Tika T3 and almost gave up hand loading. I could only do slightly better.

i took me three months to come up with a load more accurate than winchester white box 54 grain in 223. ended up bettering it with a 50 grain hornady sxsp 50 grainer and benchmark. now i hardly shoot the rifle.
