It was set up. There are a number of factors that prove this is a staged photo -- not the least of which is common sense and a knowledge of the animal(s). Read the description of the event and study the photo. The photo and description are completely consistent, plausible and not at all inconsistent with coyote behavior under the circumstances as described by the author and photographer.

When i was a boy, my Dad and his friends hunted foxes from airplanes. Piper cub with skis. Northern Minnesota c1955. Anyway, they would get a hangar full of frozen foxes. You could pose them just about anyway you wanted.

From the picture description it says: "They called for 15 minutes and brought in the pack of coyotes that they couldn't see until they were 20 yards away." But if you look at the picture the guy is standing out in the open with very few small grass clumps around him. Is their eyesight that bad? Only one poster -- Jordan -- seems to think it is real. But hey, I have dibs on selling him the Golden Gate bridge and some ocean front property in central Texas... Bobby Μολὼν λαβέ The most important thing in life is not what we do but how and why we do it. - Nana Mouskouri

Coyotes sometimes get so engrossed in the prey that they don't notice the hunter. That being said, this looks a little, "funny".

With editors like that is there any wonder why most hunting sports magazines are crap, why zumbo was on staff, or why most hunting/shooting magazines contain great large and small idiocies? "Make yourselves sheep and the wolves will eat you" G. ned ludd
