I ran across this article while surfing the web. I hope its not to late for our friends down under to fight this destruction of fine arms!
It is such a shame that the United Nations has a hand in this wanton waste!
I just hope some of our Varminting friends in New Zealand can bring some sanity back to firearms laws "down under"!
I am posting the link just below (hopefully).

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/index.cfm?c_id=1&ObjectID=10342136

I hope this link will get interested parties to this article.
I guess this emphasizes more than ever that we should all be very careful who we vote for!

30 shot mag? O.K, so the first shot hits, the other 29 spray all over the countryside, as usual. maybe they just needed a bigger caliber? Not more bullets.
Just another triumph of P.C, brought to you from Helengrad.

PC,

Come on, do you really need to sugar coat this
issue like this Big Grin

Seriously, I like your choice of words. Is there
some way to muster the voters to change those
minority "wits" in those positions of power?
We are suffering from some serious liberal
agenda, in our current govenor, and I am
hoping he will be limited to 1 term. Maybe
then we can get this "Personal Protection
Act" passed, and I can carry a concealed
weapon. My government trusted me to
defend this country, but I can't be trusted to
carry a concealed handgun to protect me
and my family...Now that is bullshit.

TOP_PREDATOR: The information you added just now REALLY makes me sick! 223's OH MY GAWD!
I found on another site that the arms could be turned over to licensed dealers and sold legally to the New Zealand public! The resulting money from those sales would go a long way toward the new Rifles or to a charity or to feeding the poor of Africa or some damn where!
Just a stupid decision on someones part to say the least!
Hell I would buy one if I could get it exported to Montana!
Just a short sighted and stupid waste!
Now if they had been the Police Sniper Specials in 308 Winchester caliber that would have been bad enough but no where near as horrendous as destroying perfectly good 223's!
Sheesh!

SAVE THE REMINGTONS!!!

Gidday Guys,

Another one of Helens little gems. I really despair for our society when we let those without any experience tell those of us who do have the experience what is good for us.

The one thing this labour government won't do is admit that they have made a bad decision and back down. For them it is a case of who is right not what is right.

They don't give a shit about common sense. It is a case of how dare you disagree with me. Just for that I'm not going to listen to what you have to say.

We have an election in a months time and if the polls are to be believed we are in for another term of these idiots. Bribe people with tax cuts and you can get back into power.

Individually people are intellegent but as a group they are real dumb!

Are these New Zealand politicians making these absurd laws? It sounds like we've exported some of our nitwit Canadian liberals to your shores. I wouldn't be surprised. Best wishes.

I listened to the morning DJ's talk about this plan earlier this month on Radio Hauraki (the classic Rock station) even they thought that it was absurd.

Well here in Vic we used to have 10/22's for stock destruction. To be PC they were replaced with 77/22 Magnums. The chief wants to get rid of our 870's altogether (can't have well armed police after all) and refuses to replace our miserable .38 model 10's with a modern semi auto. Might actaully scare the crooks, and we can't have that!

Gidday Guys,

Just got the word tonight that they shoved all of the model sevens under the gas axe last week.

Cut them once through the barrel and once again through the action/bolt so that nothing could be used for parts. They were then dumped pn the sea.

These PC pricks are really starting to piss me off. Come the revolution I have a lamppost put aside for each and every one of them.

We lost the battle but by crikey we are going to win the war.

Read this part of the article, guys:

"The Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Irradiatethe illicit trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in all its Aspects" convention was ratified in New York in 2001.

IRRADIATE? As in "to make radioactive"? Well no WONDER they are going to destroy them...

Idiots, all of them. Even the reporters are idiots. The word was obviously Eradicate...

They are actually Model 7 remington bolt actions wood/blued and they are replacing them with a Bushmaster variant which has a 20round magazine.

It appears that the old rifles are doomed to have their barrells bent and cut despite all the protesting bawling
